Knightley Waits For My Fair Lady Role

I really hope they don’t cast her as I think she would be awful.

Keira Knightley is begging studio bosses to finally cast her as the lead in the remake of My Fair Lady – because she’s been preparing for the part for two years.

Reports have been circulating since September suggesting Knightley has secured the role made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the 1964 musical, based on George Bernard Shaw‘s comedy of manners, Pygmalion.

But she insists casting directors have not made a final decision since she first read for the role in 2007, and she will ignore rumours she’s landed the part until she receives confirmation from her managers.

Knightley tells Moviefone.com, “I auditioned for it about two years ago, and I think it’s been a matter of trying to assemble the correct team to do it that is going to make as interesting a movie and as good a movie as possible. There are good whispers going around, you know, and hopefully they’ll come to fruition.”

Damon Confirms Fourth Bourne Movie

So another Bourne movie will be made.

Hollywood actor Matt Damon is working on a fourth installment of the successful Bourne movie franchise.

Damon and director Paul Greengrass will be developing an original script for the popular series’ fourth outing – as the films have dramatised all of Robert Ludlum‘s best-selling novels.

Yet both are currently held up on other projects – and Damon remains cautious about reprising his physically intense role as superspy Jason Bourne.

He tells Parade magazine, “We’re working on it. This time it would be from an original script rather than a book by Robert Ludlum, but the director Paul Greengrass is busy and I am too, so we’ll see what happens.

“When I did the first movie I was 29 years old. I am 37 now. After a tough fighting scene, the next day you wake up and feel your body more. That’s just the way it is.”

Rourke Agrees Iron Man 2 Deal

YAY best news i’ve heard all day :-). So it looks as though a good cast is forming for this film.

Mickey Rourke is set for a starring role in the upcoming Iron Man sequel – after the film’s bosses finally agreed to the Oscar-nominee’s pay demands.

Rourke was rumoured to have turned down the chance to play Russian villain Whiplash, after he was offered $250,000 (£180,000) for the part.

But the Wrestler star has now signed up to star alongside Robert Downey Jr. in Jon Favreau‘s follow-up to his 2008 hit, after studio chiefs at Marvel upped his pay packet, according to Variety.

Rourke joins a star-studded cast including Sam Rockwell and Samuel L. Jackson in the movie, which is scheduled to hit cinemas in summer 2010.

Mickey Rourke Picture of the Day 2

The second installment of a Mickey Rourke picture . . . todays is from the Golden Globes 2009 when he was talking to Kate Winslet on the red carpet.

Movie Picture of the Day 7

Todays picture is from ‘Dead Poets Society’ and the most moving part of the film.

Cage: ‘I Resigned From The Wrestler’

Well, I for one am really glad that Nicolas Cage did not end up playing Randy “The Ram” Robinson. As Mickey is just perfect in the role. Cannot imagine Nicolas Cage in it at all . . .

Nicolas Cage has confirmed he quit The Wrestler because he didn’t think he’d have time to get into steroid-pumping shape.

The role that sparked a major comeback for Mickey Rourke initially belonged to Cage, but the Con Air star resigned from the project – because he didn’t think he’d make a believable Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson.

Cage tells TV news show Access Hollywood, “I resigned from the movie because I didn’t think I had enough time to achieve the look of the wrestler who was on steroids, which I would never do.”

And the actor reveals he asked for Rourke’s blessing when the film role came to him – because it was written for the Angel Heart star.

Cage adds, “For whatever reason, they couldn’t get the financing for the movie back then.”

The Rock’s Uncle Taught Rourke To Wrestle

How cool, that The Rock’s uncle trained Mickey.

Mickey Rourke was transformed into a professional wrestler by the uncle of grappler-turned-Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson.

Rourke spent months at former World Wrestling Federation star Afa Anoa’i’s Wild Samoan Training Center in Florida to prepare for his role as fallen ring favourite Randy ‘The Ram’ Johnson in The Wrestler.

And Dwayne Johnson – who used to wrestle under the name The Rock – reveals he kept a close eye on Rourke’s transformation from actor to muscle-bound athlete.

He tells Moviefone.com, “My uncle actually trained Mickey for the movie, and he would call me weekly and give me progress reports on Mickey. That’s a tough task to go from just being an actor to becoming not only a professional wrestler, but a professional wrestler who’s wrestled for 25 years. My uncle was amazed at Mickey’s progress and his desire to do everything. That takes commitment.”

And Johnson insists he is a huge fan of the film, insisting it accurately depicted the wrestling world.

He adds, “I loved the movie. I thought Mickey’s performance was outstanding. I thought that the movie that Darren Aronofsky created was real and memorable. That world - it’s a very visceral, authentic world that he created, and I can’t say enough great things about the movie, and I’m very proud of Mickey.”

Rourke’s performance in the movie earned him a Best Actor Oscar nomination – but he lost out to Sean Penn, who took home the prize for Milk at February’s ceremony.

Fanning Confirmed For New Moon Role

Yes, I am one of those Twilight geeks . . .

Dakota Fanning will star as a bloodsucking vampire in the Twilight sequel New Moon.

The teenage actress has been at the centre of fevered speculation in recent months as internet reports claim she has been offered a role opposite Kristen Stewart and brooding Brit Rob Pattinson in the movie.

And now film bosses have confirmed the news to Access Hollywood – Fanning will play the role of Jane, a member of the Italian Volturi vampires in the sequel.

Filming on New Moon is scheduled to begin in Italy this spring.
