Rourke, Braga courted for ’11 Minutes’

Always nice to hear Mickey being linked with a new film.

Mickey Rourke, Alice Braga and Vincent Cassel will star in erotic drama 11 Minutes for director Hany Abu-Assad.

Based on Paulo Coehlo’s sexually-charged novel, the story centres on a girl (Braga) who becomes an expensive call girl after being betrayed by her first lover. She takes up work at a gentlemen’s club in Geneva, throwing her into the lives of the club owner (Rourke) and a music executive (Cassel) who indulges in S&M.

Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio is also in talks to join the cast.

Abu-Assad, who directed the Oscar-nominated Paradise Now, has reworked the script from an earlier adaptation by Marcos Bernstein.

11 Minutes will begin filming this June in Brazil and Geneva, says Variety.

Mickey Rourke – Picture of the Day 1

Ok since I have a very strange obsession going on with Mickey Rourke. I thought I would post a picture everyday until I get bored (which is not likely anytime soon).

So today’s will be . . . an old one of Mickey in the sand.

Movie Picture of the Day 5

Today’s picture is from ‘P.S. I Love You’ and is my favorite part. When Holly (Hilary Swank) is singing “The Man That Got Away” from ‘A Star Is Born’ featuring Judy Garland.

Sleepless In Seattle: The Musical Heads To Broadway

Very interesting musical. Can’t really think how it will work, so I would be very curious to see it.

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan‘s 1993 romantic comedy Sleepless In Seattle is heading to Broadway – as a musical.

Screenwriter Jeff Arch, who penned the hit movie, is working with composer and lyricist Leslie Bricusse to turn the film into a song-and-dance production for the New York stage.

The theatre adaptation, aimed for release in 2010, will be directed by My Big Fat Greek Wedding filmmaker Joel Zwick and produced by David Shor, according to industry paper Daily Variety.

Bacon Brushes Off Broadway Return In Footloose

Awww I think thats such a shame, even though he is too old for the part now. But would have been cool for him to revive his film role on Broadway.

Kevin Bacon has pre-warned Broadway bosses not to bother offering him a role in a revival of his hit movie musical Footloose – because he’s “not interested”.

The actor starred as Ren McCormack in the original 1984 film, about a Chicago, Illinois-bred teenager who moves to a small town that has banned dancing and rock music.

The movie was turned into a musical, which hit the New York stage back in 1998.

There has been talk of a new production – but Bacon won’t be involved.

He tells the New York Daily News, “I’m not interested in doing that. They did one, and that’s enough for me.”

No Bond For Boyle

This has been quickly denied !!!

British director Danny Boyle will not take the helm of the next James Bond movie – despite insisting he’s a huge fan of the 007 franchise.

The acclaimed moviemaker was reportedly approached by Bond bosses to direct the upcoming sequel to last year’s Quantum of Solace after he swept the board at February’s Oscars with Slumdog Millionaire.

A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “He has been offered the chance to direct the 23rd Bond film by (Bond producer) Barbara (Broccoli). Everyone on the Eon team thinks Danny would be the perfect addition to the Bond family.”

However, despite the modest filmmaker insisting he is “flattered” to be linked with the Bond brand – he has no plans to direct the next movie.

A spokeswoman tells WENN, “While Danny says he always has and always will enjoy the Bond movies he has no plans to direct one. Danny is naturally flattered to be thought of!”

Fighting (2009) Poster

Just come across this poster for the up and coming Channing Tatum film ‘Fighting’. It sounds a little bit like ‘Fight Club’ with the whole underground street fighting theme.

Here’s the poster.

“Some Dreams Are Worth The Fight”. I love the tagline, that alone makes me want to see this film.
