John, Lansbury & Laurents Get Broadway Honours

And Angela Lansbury should get Broadway honours she done so much for musical theatre !!!

Sir Elton John, actress Angela Lansbury and Tony-winning playwright Arthur Laurents will receive special recognition next month for their contributions to Broadway.

The trio will be honoured at the 75th Annual Drama League Awards, hosted by Jeremy Irons and Cynthia Nixon.

The ceremony honours stars’ achievements in theatre, musical theatre and directing in Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.

John, who wrote the music for New York productions of Billy Elliot and The Lion King, will be celebrated for his achievements in musical theatre.

Lansbury, currently appearing in the Broadway revival of Blithe Spirit, will be recognised for her unique contribution to theatre while writer/director Laurents, the man behind the recent revivals of West Side Story and Gypsy, will receive the Julia Hansen Award for directing.

The honours will be handed out at the Annual Awards Luncheon in New York on 15 May.

News: Douglas Mulls Wall Street Sequel

I am a big fan of Michael, so to see him reprise the role in which won him an Oscar I think would be fantastic !!!

Michael Douglas is considering a multi-million dollar offer to reprise his role as wicked money man Gordon Gekko in a Wall Street sequel.

Twenty-two years after Douglas’ Oscar-winning performance in the first film, studio bosses are trying to convince him to slip back into a pin-striped suit and head back to New York’s financial district.

According to the National Enquirer, Charlie Sheen – who starred as Bud Fox in the original – has already been ruled out of the sequel.

Jenkins Joins Roberts In Eat, Pray Love

Can only be a good thing, Richard Jenkins seems to do well in almost all movies he is in.

Richard Jenkins will help guide Julia Roberts to spiritual enlightenment in their new movie Eat, Pray, Love.

Jenkins has signed on to star opposite Roberts in the film, based on an international bestselling novel by Elizabeth Gilbert about a woman on a journey of self-discovery after divorcing her husband.

The pair meet at a peaceful Hindu community in India during after Roberts’ character embarks on a year-long journey around the world to find enlightenment.

Filming is scheduled to begin in July and will take place in New York, Rome, India and Bali, reports Variety.

Fast & Furious Wins U.K. Box Office Race

If I was in the UK, I would probably of went to see “Fast & Furious” on friday.

Vin Diesel‘s high-speed action film Fast & Furious has raced to the top of the U.K. box office chart in its opening weekend (11-12Apr09), with takings of $7.2 million (£4.9 million).

The movie – the fourth in the popular franchise – revved ahead of last week’s number one, animated movie Monsters vs Aliens, which pulled in around $4.1 million (£2.8 million).

High School Musical heart-throb Zac Efron‘s comedy 17 Again debuted at number three, making $3.7 million (£2.5 million), while Richard CurtisThe Boat That Rocked dropped to number four, taking $1.4 million (£965,000).

Nicolas Cage‘s thriller Knowing rounded out the top five most popular films in British cinemas, garnering $920,000 (£620,000).
