Winslet Blasts ‘Middle Class’ Tag

Awww I love Kate, and I’m glad that she has put the record straight. She is such a lovely woman, love her !!!

Kate Winslet has hit out at critics who assume she had a privileged childhood – insisting her family was so poor she grew up wearing second-hand shoes.

The Titanic star is adamant her famously well-spoken accent is not an indication of a luxurious upbringing.

And she is insists her parents struggled to make ends meet – taking her on cheap vacations in the south-west of England and giving her 15 cents (10p) a week pocket money.

She tells Britain’s Marie Claire magazine, “People think I’m lying… My dad was very much a struggling actor and spent more of his life as a postman, as a member of a Tarmac firm, as a van driver. He’d sell Christmas trees. Anything. That was my dad.

“We had these dreadful second-hand cars that would always die a death, or we’d go on holiday to Cornwall, come back and it would have been nicked (stolen). It’s like a Joe Orton farce, my family. Honestly, it was hand-me-down shoes and 10p pocket money on a Saturday that didn’t go up until I was 11.”

Penn Files For Separation From Wife

Awwww I thought that they had sorted it out and were going to give it another go after there appearance together at the Oscars.

Sean Penn has filed for legal separation from his wife of 13 years, Robin Wright Penn.

News of the split comes just two days after the couple’s 13th wedding anniversary, and just months after they reunited. Penn originally filed for divorce back in 2007.

The actor first fuelled rumours of a second split when he failed to mention Wright Penn during his Best Actor acceptance speech at the Academy Awards in February.

Then last month, he was rumoured to be romancing actress Natalie Portman.

Those reports were denied by sources close to Penn, but on Friday he filed court documents to make their separation official, according to ExtraTV.com.

The couple share 18-year-old daughter, Dylan, and 15-year-old son Hopper. They sought joint custody of their kids during their 2007 divorce proceedings.

News: Douglas Recovering From Knee Surgery

Awww poor Michael, hope he recovers quickly.

Veteran actor Michael Douglas is recovering from surgery after having his knee replaced.

The Basic Instinct star, 64, found himself limping around on the set of his forthcoming film Solitary Man and was instructed by doctors to go under the knife to remedy the problem.

He says, “I had my knee replaced, I have an artificial knee. A little bit of Pvc, plastic pipes with titanium rods. It’s four weeks old.

“I had a skiing accident years and years ago and it just wore down. It finally got to a point where I had a limp and I had to do it. So it’s four weeks old. I’ve got another couple of months (of recovery) but I’ll be fine.”

Douglas is already back on his feet and he credits his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones with helping to make his recovery all the more comfortable.

He adds, “She turned out to be fantastic, it’s like a test to see how good your wife is, but she’s been fantastic. But I couldn’t get her into the nurse’s outfit!”

But Douglas’ father, legendary actor Kirk Douglas, wasn’t so kind and poked fun at his injury: “After this fairly serious operation, I go see him and he said, ‘How you doing?’ and I said, ‘Pretty good dad’, and he goes, ‘You know, when I had my double knee replacement, I was 88!'”

News: LaBeouf In Talks To Take Over Sheen’s Greedy Role

I think Shia LeBeouf would be a really good choice for the second Wall Street movie.

Shia LaBeouf is in talks to take over Charlie Sheen‘s role as a desperate young stockbroker in the forthcoming sequel to 1987 film Wall Street.

LaBeouf is negotiating with bosses at 20th Century Fox to join Michael Douglas, who’s been recast by director Oliver Stone for Wall Street 2, a follow-up to the Oscar-winning drama, reports Variety.

Sheen starred as Bud Fox in the original, about a young broker struggling to get to the top while surrounded by greed and corruption.

The original film’s stars received mixed reviews. Douglas won an Oscar for Best Actor for his role as ruthless Wall Street player Gordon Gekko while Daryl Hannah‘s performance earned her a Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actress.

Ledger’s Last Film To Hit Cannes

Its nice to see it will get a place in a film festival, to get it out there nice and early.

The film Heath Ledger was making when he died last year is set to premiere at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival in France after becoming a last-minute screening.

Film fans and the media are expected to flock to Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus when it opens on the eve of a day of publicity on 22 May.

The film will not be among those competing for film festival prizes.

As well as Ledger, the film features Christopher Plummer, Verne Troyer, Lily Cole and Tom Waits and Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law, who stepped in to complete the tragic actor’s scenes.

Ledger died from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008.

Parker: ‘Broderick’s The Perfect Father’

Awww I think this is really cute !!!

Sarah Jessica Parker can’t wait to welcome her new baby twins into the world – because husband Matthew Broderick is such a fanstastic father.

The couple announced on Tuesday they were set to become parents to surrogate twin daughters.

The little girls, who are due this summer, will be sisters for their six-year-old son James Wilke.

And the Sex And The City actress is delighted about the imminent new arrivals – as she thinks Broderick is the perfect parent.

Parker says, “To see my husband Matthew be the father I knew he would be, that makes me feel very lucky and privileged.”

News: Douglas Back To The Bank For Wall Street 2

I think this is fantastic news 🙂 I love Michael !!!

Michael Douglas is heading back to Wall Street – he will return to the big screen as evil moneyman Gordon Gekko.

Rumours of a sequel to the hit 1987 movie have mounted since the collapse of the modern global banking system – with film fans suggesting it is the perfect time for Douglas to reprise his Oscar-winning role as the ruthless banking boss.

And the actor has listened to cinemagoers’ demands – agreeing to team up with director Oliver Stone again to shoot Wall Street 2.

20th Century Fox will begin filming in the summer.

A spokesman for the studio says, “We need to keep the story line under wraps, but it’s literally ripped from today’s headlines. It’s going to be very big and very cool.”

And Douglas can’t wait to get back into his red braces, recently saying: “Gordon Gekko is a great, old-fashioned villain. And, interestingly enough, if you look at most actors’ careers, their biggest achievement, not necessarily success… is playing a bad guy.”
