Alice in Wonderland (2010) Build Up!

I have been looking forward to Alice in Wonderland since hearing that Tim Burton would be making the film. I love Tim Burton films as they are always very different to anything you have seen before. The film is due for release on Friday and I am very much hoping that I can get to see it on Friday.

Earlier this week we had the Odeon cinema change announcing that they would not be showing the much anticipated film because Disney plan to release the DVD 12 weeks after the cinema release instead of the usual 17 weeks. I found this very strange that Odeon were willing to lose out on so much money by not showing the film and letting their usual customers got o other cinema chains. This didn’t really effect myself as I am a Cineworld customer. Cineworld is actually opening the film on a massive release with hundreds of screens across the country. Odeon changed their mind and decided to release the film this Friday. It really does look like its going to have a big box office taking.

Movie Quote of the Day 64

Today’s quote comes from “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and I am sure everyone can relate to it. As do things ever stay the same and last?

I was thinking how nothing lasts and what a shame that is”

“somethings last.”

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) Poster 2

The second poster has been released for the new Nightmare on Elm Street film which is due out in the next couple of months. You can see the first poster here. Not really much difference between the two posters, the newer one has a release date on, I am not sure if the UK release date is much different to the US date which is on the poster.

An Education (2009) Review

A coming-of-age story about a teenage girl in 1960s suburban London, and how her life changes with the arrival of a playboy nearly twice her age. What time of education can you learn from more? An education in life or a school/university education?

Empire Awards 2010 – Voting Now Open!

The nominees have been announced for the 2010 Jameson Empire Film Awards. You can now vote for your favorite to win, five nominees to choose from in each category.

I’ve always liked the Empire awards as you get the chance for more mainstream good films which are usually snubbed by the Oscars and the general awards season. Like the big blockbusters. I have submitted my votes . . . who will you vote for?

Movie Quote of the Day 63

Today’s quote comes from “Vanilla Sky” and is very inspirational inthe sense of changing your life around . . .

Every passing minute is another minute to change everything around.”

BAFTA 2010 – Colin Firth Winner

As you have probably noticed I have totally been slacking with my blog this week. That is all due to starting a new job on Monday and working full time. So I have not had much chance to review some films I have watched, and come up with any new top 10 lists. This also impacted any post relating to the 2010 BATFA Awards which took place on Sunday night.

It was all very predictable and went the way you would expect the awards to go . . . until the very end of course and “The Hurt Locker” picking up the best picture award as I was not expecting that at all.

But one thing that made me extremely happy (even though I am yet to see the film) is that Colin Firth picked up the Best Actor award! I have been a huge Colin Firth fan since seeing him in “Bridget Jones Diary” and even watched some awful films with him in haha. But very much looking forward to “A Single Man” so seeing him with the BAFTA in his hand put a big smile on my face. His speech was charming and funny as well which just added to my happiness.

Movie Quote of the Day 62

Today’s quote has been very true for myself over the past few months and still at the moment I reckon. It pretty much sums up love in my opinion, as you really cannot actually help it. This is from “Save the Last Dance”.

You cant help who you love, you’re not supposed to.”

Brilliant Movie Scenes 1

Every now and then I am going to post a movie scene which I think is brilliant, and you can say if you agree or disagree with my choice.

The first in the series is from “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” when we see how much little decisions and things that happen can have a major impact on events which unfold.
