The winners of the 2011 Academy Awards. The only big shock had to be Tom Hooper picking up the Best Direction Oscar for The King’s Speech ahead of big favorite David Fincher for The Social Network.

Not a bad year. I think the fact we expected most of the main ones meant that we appreciated the smaller upsets. The King’s Speech matching Inception in number of wins (though The King’s Speech in bigger categories)? I can live with that.

Yeah most of the main ones were nailed on from the start of the awards season. Only big talking point has to be Tom Hooper as everyone was claiming it to be Fincher’s time.
The King’s Speech seemed to pull away from The Social Network at the important time a month or so before the Oscars.
