As we are entering June, the summer films are going to be coming out thick and fast over the next couple of months. Let’s have a look and see what we have to look forward to! As with most summer films, a lot seem to be based around comic books. We have another installment from X-Men (hopefully doing better than Wolverine) and the much anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger, which is the last film in the build up to ‘The Avengers’ which is due out next year. A couple of comedies thrown in. But let’s face it, this summer is about the final Harry Potter film, part 2 of the Deathly Hallows. The end of the franchise after 10 years since it all began.
It doesn’t seem that many out and out romantic comedies are going for a summer release (unless of course I have missed them). Definitely more for the action and adventure angle this summer!
What films are you looking forward to most this summer?
X-Men: First Class

Going back to the very start in X-Men terms. Having a look at the younger lives of Xavier and Magneto, from the trailers it looks very good. But it will have to be very good to take our minds away from the dreadful Wolverine Origins film. I think this will help us to understand how close the two men were, and how they eventually became enemies. As that is just touched on in the other films.
Kung Fu Panda 2

Must have an animated film released over the summer and Jack Black again lends his voice to the lovable panda for a second outing. I have to admit that I was not a big fan of the first film, but have only seen it once in the cinema on its release.
The Green Lantern

Now this one feels like its been in the works for ages and after seeing the trailer for the first time it does look very impressive, if not slightly strange at the same time. That can only be a good thing I suppose. I do enjoy a bit of Ryan Reynolds as well it has to be said!
The Beaver

Now this just looks damn right random, but in a good way. The question this will bring has to be, was Mel Gibson really acting? Having a hand puppet beaver being his best friend and thing he confides in the most. Got to admit I think this will be a big surprise at the box office.
Bad Teacher

Cameron Diaz is the bad teacher, who is fouled mouthed and often drunk by the trailer/photos for this film. Not really sure about it myself but it could turn out to be a lot better than anticipated.
Bridesmaids

From the trailers (and even photos) this looks like it is attempting to be the female answer to ‘The Hangover’. I actually really do want to go and see this as well, mainly to find out if it is a womans answer to ‘The Hangover’ we have had too many comedies aimed at males in recent years, I think it’s time for one for the girls. Not long to find out if this is the one!
Larry Crowne

Ah a Julia Roberts film will just make my summer complete. Massive fan and have the need to watch every single film she appears in. This one just look like so a lovely story by the trailers, a bit romance for the older people? Well that what it looks like, and who doesn’t love Tom Hanks. He should still be in more films for me!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II

THE END . . . well that is what this film is for the Potter series, which have brought so much joy to the world of cinema for the past 10 years. Launching the careers for some young actors whilst showing the vast talent Britain has to offer. But in this the climax to the story, Harry Potter will be faced against Lord Voldermot at long last!
Captain America: The First Avenger

A lot is riding on this film, as the last of the four who are going to be in next years ‘The Avengers’ film. Which I am sure will help the other films tie together a little bit more in preparation for that. Haven’t really seen much about this film, but if Thor is anything to go by it will be very good.
Cowboys & Aliens

I still find the title of this film totally laughable, and the trailer doesn’t really help much either. But maybe, just maybe we will all be surprised with this film? I just have a feeling it will end up being more funny than anything else. But I do love Daniel Craig so will be giving it a watch.
I feel like I dont have a lot to look forward to this summer. If you aren’t a comic book or superhero movie fan, summer seems to be a bit of a drag lately. I am excited for Potter to conclude and mildly want to see a few comedies, otherwise, can’t wait til fall.

Not much to really look forward to, Potter is the main one for me. Something really is missing with this summer!
