Saving Mr. Banks (2013) Review

The story (or inspired by the story) behind Disney’s much-loved film Mary Poppins and how difficult it was to get from the page to screen, with author P.L. Travers holding onto her beloved character and wanting her true meaning to shine through.

Breaking Emotions Blogathon

Just came across this Blogathon set up over at Mettel Ray’s blog last night so quickly jumping in and starting my blogs about it! Very interesting looking at the different emotions and how different scenes in films help to bring those out. Looking forward to picking the films I can relate to for each emotion.

You can find more information in the announcement post here.

Monty Python 2014

On Saturday 5th July 2014, I will be sat in The O2 Arena in London watching Monty Python!

With only one date officially announced for when the tickets went on sale yesterday it was going to be an impossible task to buy tickets. Especially when it sold out within 45 seconds. Quickly 4 more dates were added to take the total to 5 shows. We are going to the Saturday and final night thanks to the brilliant efforts of one of my friends who was given the task of getting tickets! We even took the risk and booked a hotel on Sunday night for the original date of the Tuesday, luckily just a small fee to change to the Saturday!

So . . . always look on the bright side of life!

Cineworld – Secret Screening – The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Well the day arrived for the secret screening! A worker from Cineworld said a few things before the film about it being a World Exclusive and that she didn’t even know what the film was going to be and ironically plugged the Unlimited screening for next Monday, which is none other than . . . yes you guessed it ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’

So after sitting through the trailers and Kevin Bacon advert you can imagine everyone’s disappointment when ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ flashed up on the screen!!! Some people even left before it started (bit much really at least give it a chance).

Review to follow . . .

Musical Moments – (500) Days of Summer

Absolutely brilliant moment in (500) Days of Summer. When he eventually gets to that place with Summer and is literally jumping down the street the next day, hopefully everyone will get to have this feeling at some point!

Struck by Lightning (2012) Review

Carson Phillips is a young man who was in High School when he suddenly died, so we are seeing his final weeks in flashback form as he narrates on how unhappy he was in his rather mixed up life.

Cineworld – Secret Screening 2

If you read my blog a lot you will probably know that I have an Unlimited Card for Cineworld cinemas and this means you pay monthly and can go and see as many films as you want. An added bonus has been the Unlimited preview screenings and now secret screenings! The first one was held earlier this year and we got a very advanced screening of ‘Now You See Me’. It was a very strange yet fun experience not knowing what film was going to start after the trailers and Kevin Bacon advert! Now with only a couple of days to go until the second secret screening (and the two clues below) I cannot help but wonder what the film is going to be. A lot of the talk is pointing towards ‘Last Vegas’ and that is understandable.

Clue 1: He who ruled over the army had his name traced out by meteors and he clashed in the city of the rat pack. Figured it?

Clue 2: He was a good man but one to avoid. If it’s at the centre of what he works for, are you really alive? Are you watching?

Any ideas on what the film it could be?

The Butler (2013) Review

The story of Cecil Gaines and how he went on from a child in a cotton farm seeing his father being shot dead to then learning how to serve. This sees him ending up in the biggest house of them all, the White House and serving eight presidents.
