RIP Carrie Fisher

Quite strange that I was sat in the foyer at the cinema as this news broke, waiting to see Rogue One: A Star Wars story! I figure that is a fitting tribute to the actress most well known for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars. Not forgetting one of my all time favourites ‘When Harry Met Sally’.

Such sad news especially after it was announced on Christmas Day that she was in a stable condition. An inspirational woman who will be truly missed, always spoke openly and honestly. Thoughts are with all of her family and friends.

Rest in peace Carrie!

May the force be with you x

2016 at the Theatre

Here I go with an overview of my 2016 of theatre trips to see musicals and plays. Touring shows that have come to the North East at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle and the Sunderland Empire. As well as managing to have a few trips down to London to take in what the West End has to offer! You can check out the list of shows here. I have somehow managed to out do 2015 catching 31 shows in 2016!

Hairspray Live! (2016) Review

screen-shot-2016-08-19-at-3-04-55-pm_zpsm9lqw4vd

It’s been a pretty big year for the live musicals being shown in America and they eventually somehow manage to make their way to the UK. Grease Live appeared on Netflix but Hairspray Live was actually broadcast on ITV4 so a perfect opportunity to record and then be able to catch up with. In the UK we have had our own when they did a production of The Sound of Music last year. Something does feel quite strange about them when they are done kinda half like a film and half like an actual stage show. It must be a very strange experience to be part of.

Stage Door – Mark Rylance

Today was my final theatre trio of the year to see Mark Rylance starring in the play he co-wrote Nice Fish (review to follow). Afterwards I headed to the stage door and was actually rather surprised that only two other people had decided to wait for him to come out.
