Musical Moments – It’s My Life (Bon Jovi)

Bon Jovi are my all time favourite band (EVER) and I am lucky enough to be going to see them for the third time on Wednesday in Liverpool at Anfield Stadium. Obviously I am super excited so thought it was perfect to then have It’s My Life as today’s musical moment! This is from the Crush album from 2000 and that is what really got me into the band, which were celebrating a huge comeback so I have always loved this song.

Especially years later for the music video when I realised that Blue Bloods Jamie Reagan (actor Will Estes) as that just happens to be one of my favourite tv shows!

Why I am so pleased I grew up with the Spice Girls!

Sometimes I guess we get rather lucky with time and when things happen. That is something I feel so lucky about when it comes to the Spice Girls, I just so happened to be 8 turning 9 as they released Wannabe back in 1996 and I was given a girl group that was for everyone. I was sporty and loved football, I was given an amazing role model in Sporty Spice who also loved football and wore tracksuits and football shirts. I knew then that it was perfectly ok to be a girl and be sporty! I kinda don’t feel that is the message sent out now and certainly not from the girl groups that have been around in the past twenty years. They are all really girly and often wear very inappropriate clothing and don’t set the best example for young girls in my opinion.

Theatre: Bobby Robson Saved My Life

3BE4B4DC-DB07-46FF-B551-1F4C53B8671B

Bobby Robson Saved my life as a new play by Tom Kelly which celebrates the legacy of one of the most loved managers in football history. A true legend and amazing personality.

I am heading to The Customs House on my birthday, 16th July to see this play which I am sure is going to be a very amazing and emotional filled journey. Last year we had the fantastic documentary Bobby Robson: More Than a Manager which was a brilliant tribute to the great man, showing all his best qualities. I seriously cannot wait to see this play and I just know it is really going to be a lovely birthday treat seeing something inspired by a true legend and hero of mine.

The play will feature three different stories and each performance will be in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation which is an incredible charity founded in his memory to help find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer.

Rocketman (2019) Vs Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

It always seems to happen that when we get one film in a certain style we get a few in a very short space of time and that is kinda how it feels with Rocketman coming out this year after Bohemian Rhapsody this year. Both about legends in the music world, Sir Elton John and then Queen led by Freddie Mercury.

Both were around at the same time and started not too far off each other in the crazy 60s music world in the UK. Freddie Mercury (1969-1991 his death) and Elton John (1962-present) both gay men who could not fully be themselves, but on stage the personas they could create were a release. That is certainly something that is put into both films.
