Jackson Briggs a former Army Ranger is parked up with Lulu a service dog who worked with his best friend who was killed in action, he must drive down to make it in time for his funeral. It was never going to be an easy task.

Dog, turns out to be a rather interesting and lovely journey of discovery and dealing with the aftermath of being involved in war and how that can actually impact both humans and animals.
Lulu is a dog that had been trained to help within war and this meant that she was always ready to not only attack but to defend herself as well. This made it very difficult for Jackson to control her and had to therefore keep her tied up within the car he was driving and a muzzle on as well. She did not take well towards him and it is a true struggle to connect as he is dealing with post traumatic stress disorder. It was always going to therefore hit a point where the connect between dog and human was going to come about and quite frankly it was a joy to watch.
The film had plenty of tender and lovely moments, highlighting the lack of support given after completing tours in war torn countries. While I thought the ending was going to work out the way it did, that did not stop some horrible thoughts when I wondering if it was going to head for the horrendous outcome.
I have to say that I really do think this is Channing Tatum’s best performance of his career (so far) as he really did hit so many emotions from start to finish and doing all that whilst working mainly with a dog made it even more impressive in my opinion. I felt as though it took him away from his usual stereotypical roles and allowed him to really grow and develop during the course of the film. Naturally the dog was great as well and really up there with the best animal performance on film, right?

I’m looking forward to seeing this one, at first for the humor and now it seems it is a good movie to go along with the laughs. Thanks for reviewing this so I’ll not skip over it.
