After nearly 5000 years Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb and ready to unleash his own justice on the world. Not in the way people may hope, given powers of the Egyptian gods and quickly imprisoned was freeing him a big mistake after all?

Kahndaq is an oppressed currently and after seeing how everything started with the crown of Sabbac and the creation of Black Adam, we are taken to the current day and everything is not great. Resistance fighter Adrianna Tomaz has been trying to locate the crown with the help of her brother and colleagues believing that this is the key for the people to once again be free. She then manages to awaken Teth-Adam and pretty much causes chaos. To combat against this and the threat the government sees from Adam we get Justice Society made up of Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone and Atom Smasher. The aim of the mission was to take Adam into custody and have him held where he cannot cause anymore damage and destruction.
Amon, who is Arianna’s son would turn out to be a key character especially when it comes to making Adam see that he does actually have a choice with his powers and can use them for good and not just to destroy anything and everything.
We have heard about this film for a very long time and Dwayne Johnson has been very passionate and vocal about taking on the character and bringing it to the big screen. That makes it a real damn shame that after all of that we ended up with this rather messy superhero or antihero outing. The introduction of Justice Society who we haven’t seen before either probably didn’t help as it just felt a little bit like the Suicide Squad films of random character being thrown at us without much backstory or reasoning. Which given the casting is such a shame as well, because I really do like so many of the actors in the film.
The storyline was so weak and just got more boring as it went on, with the use of many slow motion shots that really were just irritating to watch and spoilt what could have been some really impressive action scenes. So I really think it was overall just a disappointing film, especially considering it actually does have a lot of promise. DC films just seem so messy and all over the place, I guess the expectations of things linking together is all Marvel’s fault due to the universe they created and quite frankly DC just don’t have that same build.
Underwhelming is probably the best word used to describe the film. Despite the best efforts from Dwayne Johnson, he just wasn’t given much to work with in terms of the character. Pierce Brosnan was delightful though in some scenes and totally stole them. I am such a big fan of Aldis Hodge as well so always a pleasure to see him on screen! Sarah Shahi probably had the best character and was given some good moments. Bodhi Sabongui also impressed me at times!

Every review from trusted sources keeps saying the same thing about this movie. I was hoping it would be better but my instincts seem correct.
