When Mr. Harrigan dies and his smart phone is placed in his pocket before the burial this was done by Craig a teen who had befriended the old man and used to do odd jobs for him. When he started feeling lonely he sent the dead man a message and finds out that he could still communicate with him when strange things happen after the messages.
⭐️⭐️
Craig didn’t have a lot of friends and his love for books meant that he connected with reclusive billionaire Mr Harrigan who would teach him a lot more than he ever thought was possible. All Craig had to do was read to Harrigan three times per week and it really was something that would change his life completely. Finding out on his death that Craig is in his will with a massive trust fund which is to support his future and studies as he wants to pursue a career as a writer.
After the funeral and having the phone within the coffin, a strange message comes through on the phone. Although not really something that he can deal with and when Craig begins to message the phone with his frustrations and different things happening in his life that he cannot cope with, it just so happens that very quickly after that everything is “sorted out”.
I guess the use of an iPhone throughout the story is some hell of a product placement and quite good for Apple, not that they need it to help sell more iPhones I mean they sell themselves right? But anyway it is some impressive product placement! The other side of the smartphone being used though would certainly make teens the intention for the audience really and it’s one of those very relevant in the moment horror/mystery films.
Based on a short story by Stephen King it really does feel as though he is part of this story with the different moments of doubt cast over the creepy nature of some scenes. Overall though I just found it ok, I guess we could have done with more Donald Sutherland? I mean couldn’t most films do with just that?
