Years after her happily ever after, Giselle is questioning her happiness and with that turns everyones lives upside down in the real world and Andalasia.

As Giselle with Robert, Morgan and their newest addition to the family move away from New York City to a suburb of Monroeville which is about to bring many problems. Malvina Monroe who oversees the whole community does not take kindly to the new family arriving. Many problems are caused not only with this but Morgan and her teenage years and not taking as kindly to Giselle being her stepmother anymore with the magic and fairy tale talk.
Robert now commuting back to NYC for his work and spending a lot of time on the train to do that, which again was causing friction for the family. Giselle then has the opportunity to make a wish and this does not go to plan when the spell backfires after she wanted everything to be the perfect fairy-tale. She didn’t bank on what she would become in that story!
Enchanted was released back in 2007 and I can still remember going to the cinema to see it back then and absolutely adoring it because it was something just well different. It went outside the box in terms of highlighting a lot of the ridiculous nature of animated films and how the Princesses and Princes in those fairy tales would act. However, I felt as though Disenchanted undid a lot of the good work from the first film. Feeling like many backward steps in the progression it set up for future Disney films. Quite frankly it was therefore the correct decision for this one to go straight to Disney+.
In all honesty I was very close to just giving up with Disenchanted as it did not manage to capture any magic like the first film. It dragged on and on which was not what I was expecting at all, the use of the animation working the opposite way as well just wasn’t for me. Maybe, just maybe this is one of those films where we think actually a sequel was not needed at all. Even more so after all of this time, I would have rather watched Enchanted again.

This is one reason the head of Disney was ousted last month in a coup: all of their franchises have tanked, with the latest animation effort being their lowest grossing ever – and the Mavel universe is also no under-performing – with some of their worst reviews ever…this film is another example of a squandered opportunity : a jewel in their library that sits for 15 years then comes back this way…
