Graham Marshall is a long time executive at a large advertising company and is passed over for promotion by a young rival. Not being able to cope with this and his wife Leslie being self absorbed, everything is about to explode within his life.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Feeling extremely angry and aggressive after not getting the promotion that he really thought was going to be his, when waiting for a subway train on the platform an aggressive beggar harassed him for being rich and Graham pushes him hard which causes him to fall onto the tracks and gets run over by an oncoming train. Leaving unobserved he actually feels elated by the incident and this would only cause his life to get extremely messy and complicated going forward.
This escalates when Graham decides that anyone who has made his life miserable is about to face his wrath and the ultimate revenge. Planning their deaths as he goes along and getting rather into the whole messed up world of killing people. Wondering how long he will actually get away with it. I mean come on was he even all that upset and bothered after his wife died? It certainly did not take him long to get involved with Stella and somewhat using her as an alibi.
A Shock to the System is actually quite a little bit of a genius gem in someways as quite frankly Michael Caine is incredible in the film. He is still so damn charming throughout and I was so utterly confused by this as come on he pretty much became a serial killer in terms of all the murder, and yet you feel yourself rooting for him!?!? How does that even work! Elizabeth McGovern was also a joy to watch, even if I couldn’t quite work out where I recognised her from (Yes Downton Abbey it was you).
Considering I hadn’t even heard of the film before, I was pleased to catch up with it on Amazon Prime before it left.
