Announcement!
I am going to be doing a Michael Caine-athon meaning I am going to be catching up with films that I have never seen before from the legendary British actor! This has come into play since watching A Shock to the System and I decided what better way to start the year than watching Michael Caine films?

The original “Sleuth” is SO entertaining, and “Dressed To Kill” is one of Director Brian DePalma’s greatest shockers. “Hannah And Her Sisters” is a beautiful film and Caine’s performance is spot on – yes, he didn’t go to the Academy Awards when he won for the role, as he was in the Bahamas making the absolutely dreadful “Jaws 4: The Revenge”…but as he said at the time, the film paid for a very nice house for his Mother!

He’s a legend isn’t he! I know I have some good films to catch up with, haven’t done a full check of what’s available across different screening services yet.

The Italian Job was my favourite film as a young teen. HORRIBLY misogynistic when viewed through today’s lens but an entertaining caper and Caine and Noel Coward superbly charismatic. It also means I can’t sit in an empty cinema without doing the “You may start the film now”/“Yes Mr Bridger” routine… you’ll know when you watch it!
