When Hadley Sullivan misses her flight from New York to London, for her father’s wedding she meets Oliver Jones and the pair really do have a spark between them. As they begin to fall for one another, but the chances of finding each other again are rather slim!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love at First Sight is a rather hidden gem of a film, in terms of just how utterly nice and heartwarming it is, ok a little bit heartbreaking at times as well. It pushes the boundaries and limits of a traditional romantic comedy going for a more dramatic route and has some rather tragic moments connected with it and that part I really was not expecting at all.
Hadley is dreading heading to London for her father’s wedding to a woman she has never met, oh and just to add to that she is down to be a bridesmaid as well. The fact she missed her flight added to the trauma of it all and then the possibility that she would then be late.
Oliver Jones was very focused on the probability and stats of different things and events happening, he doesn’t actually reveal to Hadley the real reason he is returning to London. That is a memorial for his mother, although it is more of a celebration as she has not actually passed away yet. I seriously am not even sure if that was better or worse.
The intensity between the pair that developed before and over a flight was actually rather wonderful to watch and one of those films that gives you a tiny little bit of hope towards love and that it really could happen at any point. It wasn’t forced and it just felt lovely and naturally, not put across as love at first sight but more an attraction.
Oh and Netflix you cowards for not calling it “Love at First Flight” – which is what I still keep thinking it is actually called. I know there’s a tv series with that name but seriously that was a damn near perfect title for this film. It also felt like a much higher quality version of the Cheesy Christmas films they churn out each year. Seriously I do recommend this one though as it had so much more going for it.
Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy have the perfect balance of chemistry and feel like real people who are just trying to get by in life without anything getting worse than it already is, I am sure that is what everyone aspires to really. You know getting by and trying! Sally Phillips is a true scene stealer in her smaller role and that was wonderful!
