Amanda and her daughter Chrissy live a very quiet life on an American farm but everything is about to be turned upside down when the remains of her estranged mother arrive from Korea.
⭐️⭐️
They live on a rural farm, raising bees, selling honey, raising chickens, and living without modern technology as Amanda has an “allergic reaction” to electronics and electricity. Chrissy has ambitions to leave the farm and go to college, something which Amanda does not really support as it upsets her to think of being alone.
Memories of her childhood are about to come back though when her Uncle delivers the ashes of her recently deceased mother Umma. Due to the things that happened to her on arrival to American and her mother not being able to cope with only being able to speak Korean when she got away from her she managed to hide her heritage from everyone including her daughter Chrissy.
The film does try to have twists and turns, along with jumpy shock style moments. Which is a shame really as given the idea behind the story and throwing in possession as part of the horror it really did have some interesting ideas, but in reality it just didn’t work.
I seriously went all in for this film with Sandra Oh in the leading role and she does her best with what she has to work with and is always a joy to watch on the screen.
I just found this film to be super boring most of all.
