My Spy: The Eternal City (2024) Review

JJ a veteran CIA agent is about to reunite with his protege Sophie and they must work together depsite her rebelling teenage moments to prevent a nuclear scheme in Vatican City, where they just happen to be on a high school choir trip in Italy.

⭐️⭐️

Those crazy teenage years don’t really mix too well with being a spy that is for sure and something JJ is about to find out when Sophie no longer wants to put in the hours of training in different ways and certainly does not want to spend any time with him.

Instantly that is where this sequel loses its way and what worked so well in the first film, I did secretly enjoy My Spy probably more than I admitted and when I saw that a sequel had been made I thought well actually why not watch this too. It felt like another Spider-Man Far from Home with the high school trip to Italy, but this time with a different type of terrorist.

Anyway it had everything you would expect from a high school trip and chasing that first crush, along with rebelling against everyone and everything that didn’t want you to be doing that. I mean to be fair to JJ he does try and be cool and allow them to get away with things he shouldn’t have.

Maybe after the surprise of the first one being decent we had our hopes built up too much with this one?
