After a family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family must reunite and return to the home at Winter River. Still haunted by the memories of Beetlejuice, Lydia has struggled through her life and has a strained relationship with her now teenage daughter Astrid.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a sequel to the ever popular 1988 film, which I guess by this point has a massive cult following!
Lydia had gone onto have a career talking to ghosts after her experience as a teen, but as her father dies and she must go back to Winter River she starts seeing Beetlejuice again. Although mainly due to his best efforts as his obsession with her has never gone away. He has his own issues though as his ex-wife shows up and she just happens to be a soul stealer.
Astrid has always struggled to accept her mother and the gift for ghosts, especially after the passing of her father and that he seems to be the only one she cannot see. Dubious and ridiculed by her peers she doesn’t really fit in anywhere, she thinks things will change when she meets a nice boy but the only thing this shows is that she has more in common with her mother than she thinks.
As a portal to the afterlife is opened eveything is about to go a little bit crazy with Beetlejuice being back! Delia is as nuts as ever with Catherine O’Hara showing once again how amazing and fantastic she is! I thought Winona Ryder put in a brilliant performance and this has truly brought her career that full circle. Obviously MIchael Keaton went all in again as Beetlejuice and I guess that is something everyone has been waiting for! Jenna Ortega is just taking all the roles from the 80s and 90s reboots by this point.
I thought it was a good enough sequel to the original and totally brought the same energy in such a nice manner, with plenty of scenes to make you laugh.
