In a near future California a ‘Grand Lottery’ had been established with a bit of a crazy rule, the winner can be killed legally before sundown and the person who does it can claim the multi-billion dollar jackpot.

Katie was an actress or aspiring actress fully chasing a dream, moving to California to try and achieve everything she had ever wanted and to make her down deceased mother proud. She had no idea about the lottery and when she moves in with a truly horrific housemate everything seems to go from bad to worse.
That is until she somehow logs into the lottery and actually wins! Not knowing what was even happening or what it meant, it wasn’t long before Noel showed up and said he would protect her for a percentage of the winnings as long as he keeps her alive!
This is when everything is about to go rather mental with people searching for her to kill, a drone camera which broadcasts her location and attempting to get to sundown and keep the money. The plot does throw in a few more twists and and turns in regards to the people that had set up the rather crazy idea. The main thing that kept coming to my mind with this film was that it was like a one person purge, everyone against that person to kill them and win the jackpot!
The casting of both Awkwafina and John Cena is pretty fantastic in all honesty for this type of film, both bringing exactly what we would expect from them in a dark buddy comedy. I have to say that they have both become guilty pleasures of mine, as you just know that you will have plenty of moments of laughter when watching. Throwing in Simu Liu in a supporting role offers some decent scenes as well.
