Music by John Williams (2024) Review

A look into the life of legendary composer John Williams.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An imtimate look into the life of John Williams, how he made the switch into composing for films and with that became regarded as one of the greatest of all time. Being involved in some of the biggest film franchises and working with incredible directors.

John Williams has been nominated for 52 Academy Awards, and suprisingly only won 5 times given the incredible music and orignal scores he has created over the years. Now that is one of the main reasons I decided to watch this documentary, I truly find it inspiring how someone can write and compose music. Seriously that’s next level talent for me, to then wonder how it then fits into scenes within films, it blows my tiny little mind.

Anyway throughout the story of his life, with his wife and children suffering such a loss at a young age. His musical roots in jazz music and how he never really intended to make that shift into the film business, aren’t we very pleased he did! Within the documentary we get so many incredible directors and filmmakers who have worked with Williams over the years talking, actually make that gushing about the experiences of working with him and how epic he has managed to make their films over the years.

It was nice to have this type of documentary with John Williams very much still alive and talking about his own life, usually something like this would be done when someone has passed away. I am pleased Williams will fully know the impact he has had and was part of this process.

Now what is your favourite of his pieces? It’s a tough choice right?
