When the worst snowstorm in history has an impact on the townsfolk of Wellington-on-Sea it is about to impact everything they had planned for Christmas.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
The story unfolds in the build up to Christmas Day and we see everything going towards Christmas Eve and issues that the different characters are facing which are mad worse by the snowstorm that then will create some chaos to plans that were already in place.
We are shown different family set ups and how they are preparing for Christmas, although I did find it strange that parents would go to a party on Christmas Eve leaving young children at home but I guess we needed that for part of the story. Anyway we have that with the ferry closing and dangerous driving weather, Santa attempting to fix some of the situations and just how lonely some people find the festive period.
You can truly tell that Richard Curtis was involved in writing this one as it certainly did tug at the heartstrings at times and gave some attempts to make you feel truly emotional. It has some cheesy moments naturally as we cannot have a Christmas film without it hitting those levels. I do like this style of animation though it makes it very nice to watch.
Brian Cox being the voice of Santa was a nice little touch I thought, then the small cameo if we can call it a cameo when its voice work of Bill Nighy towards the end. I also did recognise Fiona Shaw and Jodie Whittaker’s voices but had to wait until the end to find out who I couldn’t then guess.
