Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) Review

When Joe who is a hypocondriac is told he is dying, he decides he might as well accept an offer to throw himself in a volcano on a tropical island because he has nothing to lose but that journey will make him realise how he should have been living.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The opening scenes really highlight just how unhappy people can be if they aren’t in a stimulating work enviornment, so I guess things haven’t changed his the late 80s and early 90s. We get to see how that the company he works at screws people over and he eventually realises that it is all pointless.

The journey then begins when Joe thinks he is going to die soon, not realising what being a hypocondriac actually means. Meeting many different people would open his eyes to what he had been missing out on for many years. It would allow some crazy scenes and moments that pushed boundaries but was also then nice to watch.

I eventually saw this as completing the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan trilogy, yes I know none of those films link but you know what I mean about them being in films together. Meg Ryan looked as though she had a lot of fun playing many different characters throughout the film.
