Captain America: Brave New World – Everything We Know

Whenever a highly anticipated new movie comes out, everyone springs into action. People start discussing what to expect, sharing their interesting theories, and getting excited for the release date. When there’s news about an upcoming Marvel movie, fans go a little wild. They start looking for Easter eggs in trailers, scouring every frame of every teaser at quarter speed, and coming up with theories—sane and crazy—that allude to past movies or future storylines. People even place bets on what will happen in them using the top betting sites, including those reviewed on Casinos.com.

If you hadn’t heard already, Marvel Studios’ upcoming release is Captain America: Brave New World, the 4th instalment in the Captain America series and the 35th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It’s set to release on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025.

We’re finally ready to see how Falcon will fare in his new Captain America role and what sorts of storylines we’ll see as the film unfolds. While some of you might have an affinity for the original Cap and the movies before Infinity War (should it have stopped there?), there are certainly merits to having extended storylines.

Without further ado, let’s go through everything we know so far about Brave New World.

The Plot

We’ll start off with a recap. Although Captain America: Civil War was the last instalment in the Cap series, it was the TV series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier that gave us the last of the storyline. To sum up, Sam Wilson (Falcon) becomes Captain America with his new vibranium shield and suit, Bucky redeems himself, Sharon Carter becomes the Power Broker, and John Walker becomes US Agent. With so much political unrest still in the air, we’re bound to see much of that in Brave New World.

What we already know about the plot of Brave New World is that it is politically charged. Falcon is thrust into the centre of an international crisis after a meeting with President Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross (played by Harrison Ford). It seems like we’ll be confronted with tons of action and a lot of ‘detective’ work as Falcon tries to uncover that global conspiracy throughout the movie. Director Julius Onah has also stated that the movie would truly show Falcon ‘stepping up to be the leader as Captain America’, but also that he would certainly display a different set of morals than Steve Rogers, with a different understanding of good and bad.

Thanks to the comics and official trailers, we also know that Ross transforms into Red Hulk—a much-anticipated antagonist.

The Cast and Characters

Of course, we’ve got Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, who has played him since the beginning of the franchise. It’s going to be interesting to see how his non-super-soldier abilities will fare in fights with his wingsuit and new vibranium shield. Meanwhile, Marvel’s new Falcon is Danny Ramirez, who played Joaquin Torres, Wilson’s close friend and former Air Force intelligence officer who survived the Snap.

Shira Haas will play Ruth Bat-Seraph, a mutant agent in the Israeli secret service akin to Black Widow. Carl Lumbly plays Isaiah Bradley, a Korean War veteran and super soldier experimented on for 30 years. Then, we have Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson credited for an unknown role.

Most notably, fans are excited to experience the dynamic of Harrison Ford’s Ross (who has a history of hunting for Bruce Banner) becoming a guy who turns into a Hulk himself. Rather than him becoming solely an antagonist, there is a sort of tragedy that comes with it.

Giancarlo Esposito (known best for playing Gus Fring in the Breaking Bad series) takes on the role of Seth Voelker (Sidewinder), the scientist leader of the Serpent Society, and we also have Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns, the biologist who was accidentally cross-contaminated by Bruce Banner’s blood in The Incredible Hulk. Liv Tyler will play Betty Ross, who has hinted at turning into Red She-Hulk.

Speculations Galore

So, what do fans speculate is going to happen in the new film? Well, let’s go over a couple of theories:

  • The assembling of a new Avengers Team: Could Sam Wilson put together a new team of Avengers in order to face these new enemies? People believe that Yelena Belova (Black Widow), the Winter Soldier, and potentially other Marvel Universe favourites not from the original crew could make an appearance. Whether this happens in the movie or pops up in a post-credits scene, we’ll find out.
  • Setting up the Thunderbolts movie: It’s safe to say it’s quite likely that the new Avengers team is going to come to fruition because the upcoming Thunderbolts movie (May 2, 2025) features Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, and Valentina, who was part of the Black Widow and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Both movies also concern political themes, which connect them even further.
  • Recreation of the Super Soldier Serum: People speculate that Thaddeus Ross imprisoned Samuel Sterns to force him to recreate the Super Soldier Serum, so his revenge resulted in turning him into the Red Hulk.
  • Will Sam, as Cap, hold up? As the new Captain America isn’t a Super Soldier, will Sam become seriously injured and have to undergo some sort of healing hiatus?
