When a group of animal rights activists break into a lab and release monkeys from cages in an attempt to rescue them, despite a scientists warning that they are contagious everything will change when the virus spreads rapidly across Great Britain.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jim, a man who had been in an accident just before the virus was released was in a coma and when he wakes up the hospital is deserted and so is the rest of London. He quickly begins to realise that he isn’t as alone as he first thought and finds that within the city it is split between those who have been infected and those who have not. Forming a group with other survivors they begin to trek towards Manchester with hope that the army stationed their will offer them help and protection.
Meeting Selena and Mark is what will eventually help Jim working out what had happened in that time that he was in the coma. They agreed to head to his parents house to see if they are still alive, but they committed suicide to get away from the infected. The fight for survival and remaining unifected would see you have to promise to kill the other instantly if they are bitten. Upon meeting Frank and his young daughter Hannah they all start the quest to Manchester.
Everything isn’t as it seems though on the arrival at the sanctuary as they were just attempting to find the female survivors and keep them for the soldiers that were on the base. So after trying to survive against the infected the survival for the females against the men in this place would become another battle.
28 Days Later did take an interesting approach on the horror genre and truly showed that a virus and that would make agressive and cause the breakdown of society within the United Kingdom. The way it was filmed certainly built suspense. The casting was great with Cillian Murphy in the leading role and Naomie Harris alongside him. We then get Brendan Gleeson and Christopher Eccleston in the supporting roles with a young Megan Burns.
