Deep Cover (2025) Review

When three improv actors are asked to go undercover by the police in London’s criminal underworld, we get to see just how successful or disastrous that could be!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kat Boyles a struggling stand-up comedian was also working as an improv teacher in London is approached by. a Detective of the Met police to recruit some fellow actors for a low level sting operation. The two she chooses are Marlon Swift an aspiring actor and socially awkward IT worker Hugh forming a rather useless trio.

It seemed at first to be a very low key thing and they tried to help investigate a shop selling counterfeit cigarettes which then leads them to a mid-level criminal dealer which was not exactly what they first had in mind when starting the project. It gets out of hand rather quickly when they become in deeper than anyone could have imagined. This would cause utter chaos and create scenarios that are well out of their comfort zones as people.

Action comedies can work so well and I feel as though this one does have a pretty good balance and that is a massive positive. Naturally the inclusion of Orlando Bloom was what made me watch it, yes really. Incase you are new here, fan since LOTR in 2001 and still going strong. Obviously having Bryce Dallas Howard also in a leading role is good as well. I had no idea Sean Bean was even in it until it started so as that LOTR geek was great to see. Ian McShane can do no wrong either, making up the cast with Paddy Considine and Nick Mohammed, the latter I don’t really think is funny though.
