Jay Kelly (2025) Review

Jay Kelly is a famous movie actor and he embarks on a journey of self-discovery having to confront his past and present with his manager Ron. Looking into the broken relationships with his family.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We are shown the life of Jay Kelly in what is his present, but then flashbacks to show how everything would change for him with decisions he made at different points in his life. How a split second moment changed his life with the audtion where he had only gone along to support his best friend, naturally not his friend anymore after that moment.

The way the film portrays movie stars is certainly interesting and thought provoking into how it actually could be for them away from it all. In this case we see Jay being so very popular when he is out and around people. Everyone appreciating his films, but his daughters do not share that joy towards him.

Jay had been attempting to spend time with his daughter Daisy after finishing his latest film, she does not want to as she is about to travel to Europe with her friends. He decides to hijack her trip and travel himself, having to leave behind some problems. His manager Ron is certainly patient given the demands from Jay and everything he must try and then cover up.

It was quite difficult at times to fully appreciate how his daughters were feeling as we did not get to see anything from their point of view and why they feel that way towards him. As we only get small pieces of information from the few conversations, and that he just wasn’t present for them growing up.

In terms of performances George Clooney is just excellent and I felt very emotional at the end watching him as Jay Kelly watching all the clips that are actually from Clooney’s career on the screen. This surely is a career best for Adam Sandler, an actor I am not a fan of but I thought he was very impressive in this one and he does have some awards buzz around it.
