Jake and Neytiri’s family are battling with grief and when encountering a new agressive Na’Vi tribe the Ash People led by Varang this is about to set the conflict in Pandora to new heights.
⭐️⭐️
We follow on from the events in The Way of Water and how Jake is truly struggling with the loss of his son, and this causes rifts with his other children and in particular his surviving son. Pushing the relationship with Neytiri to the edge as she continues to be difficult about well quite frankly everything!
Don’t worry though we are about to meet a character even more irritating than her, in Varang who is the leader of the Ash People. She will form an alliance with Quaritch as they both want to destroy anything and anyone in their path, so a pretty good match in that sense. Although how many times could everyone have actually killed her was rather over the top.
Another arch we continue with is Spider and quite frankly I feel as though that aspect was what really pushed me over the edge into the boredom section, another dislikable character who has not shown any improvement at all. It’s just an aspect that I really did not enjoy.
There’s only so far that being visually stunning can get you and while that it naturally still true for this film, the world of Pandora as we have grown to know it. However, for me I just needed more than that. I needed more depth within the story rather than what felt like the second film all over again, just adding in a new tribe.
The worst thing was that I was actually quite looking forward to the film as I did enjoy The Way of Water more than I expected, you know given the sheer amount of time between Avatar and that second instalment. But overall this one was just too boring for me and the fact its now the longest in running time of the series (so far) is rather mind blowing. I’m kind of failing to see what the whole point is anymore, and quite frankly would Avatar as just a one off film have actually held better? Potentially, this is still the best use of the 3D within cinema though I will give it that.
