Spike is inducted into Jimmy Crystal’s gang on the mainland, which is certainly not good news for him. Dr Kelson makes an incredible discovery that could change the world!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We pick up with young Spike and his battle to survive on the mainland, after escaping the zombies but straight into Jimmy and his gang. He is now going to face an even stranger battle to survive, Jimmy Crystal is very unhinged. Within the story Spike becomes more of a bystander than the main character, but can I just say protect him at all costs!
The interesting aspects of this film are we get to see the true impact that the virus had on people who managed to survive. Jimmy was only 8 years old when everything went down, not that I wanted to give him an excuse for being totally messed up, but that certainly would not have helped. Believing his father is Satan is what drives him, and that everything he does is the direction from him in his head.
We then continue to the journey with Dr Kelson and his encounters with the Alpha he had named Samson, making some groundbreaking discoveries and those scenes were both heartfilled and hilarious too. I have to admit that NHS joke had me laughing out loud, and then realising that will not travel worldwide very well at all which is a shame.
This film is utterly chaotic and brutal, with a fast pace and some very gory moments. It does take a lot for a film to get that 18 rating in the UK now but that was certainly easy to see why with some of the scenes. Even so early in the year I think Ralph Fiennes could have won the scene and moment of the year as he embraces his inner devil with Iron Maiden’s ‘The Number of the Beast’ was utterly outstanding! He was great throughout as well and totally just looks like he was given artistic licence to do whatever he wanted, and having so much fun with it.
Jack O’Connell has become one of those actors who just goes fully in on a role without a care in the world and that is exactly what he does as Sir Jimmy Crystal, which feels totally on par with that level of utter madness he captured in Sinners. Alfie Williams in a smaller role still puts in a good performance in what is a lot of terror being felt with his situation. Erin Kellyman was given some good scenes and moments.
With the cliffhanger ending, how long will we have to wait for the next part even though nothing has been announced yet?
