Film and Theatre Lover!
With the up and coming Saving Mr Banks film from Disney about the making of Mary Poppins (which I cannot wait to see). It got me thinking about Disney films so decided to do a list of 7 Disney films which I love! So have a think of which Disney films you love and write a comment on this blog! Will be good to see which ones are the most popular!!!
You may be thinking wait a minute it’s already 2013. But I thought I would have a look at the rest of the year and pick the 7 films I am most looking forward too. These choices vary depending on how I think the film looks, or even ones which have my favorite actors or actresses in them. Some I have honestly been looking forward to since they were first announced, and others I have come across very recently.
What are you looking forward to for the rest of 2013?
We all know that Catherine Zeta Jones won an Oscar for her role as Velma Kelly in Chicago and the big number is All That Jazz, she has appeared on Broadway and won a Tony Award so I decided to do a little 7 Things list and find 7 songs Catherine Zeta Jones has sung. Some you probably have heard, others you might not have known about. She also released some songs in the UK years and years ago now before she became a Hollywood star!
I will admit that back in 2006 and the release of Casino Royale I jumped on the Daniel Craig bandwagon, but that didn’t mean I would just wait for his next films to come out. I went back and tried to watch as many as his back catalogue of films as possible. So I decided that the next feature on my 7 Things would be 7 Daniel Craig films you should see, not including any of the Bond films! He has appeared in a very wide variety of films and took on many different types of roles.
Batman has always been my favorite superhero/comic book based film series. The older ones and then Nolan’s reboot was exactly what I wanted to see. I cannot really explain where, when and why my love for Batman started but it did and still exists. I still love the older films and bought the DVD box set years ago. Yes I do have a soft spot for Batman Forever and even slightly for Batman & Robin – yes I do realise that people are going to judge me for that but I remember seeing that film at the cinema just before my 10th birthday and let’s face it I probably hadn’t seen anything like that at the time. I know now it is so cheesy and just not in the same league as the other films but I cannot help but remember what it was like watching it for the first time in the cinema, it was exciting. I saw Batman Begins in the cinema on its release and the same with The Dark Knight, which I then saw another two times making that my record of three times for a film at the cinema. The Dark Knight Rises I attended a 5 am screening and will be heading back to the cinema this afternoon for a second viewing. It’s not only Batman that I find myself loving but the villains are always so interesting and brilliant as well. The actors who have been in the films always seem to be spot on with it and create something really special to watch from start to finish.
On June 21st 2012 I shall be in the Stadium of Light in Sunderland at a Bruce Springsteen concert! I thought the ideal way to tie that concert into a movie blog would be to pick 7 of The Boss’ songs for this special list!
I have to admit that I am very excited about seeing Springsteen in concert especially after finding out he’s going to be on the stage for a very impressive 3 and a half hours . . . I guess that’s exactly why he is The Boss!
After the release of the Les Mis trailer and Rock of Ages coming to the cinema very soon. It has inspired me to think of the musicals I have seen on the stage and those I would love to see adapted to the big screen.
In the Heights
I saw this on Broadway the day before it won the Tony Award (I was also at the Tony Awards that year) and it really is just incredible. It’s so different and has rap style to some of the songs, you would have never seen anything like this before. It does have a 2014 page on IMDb but nothing has been updated on that for a few years now. So I guess it’s still watch this space.
These films must be on my to see list! But I want your opinions on whether they are worthy of wining the Best Picture Oscar? Let me know if they are must see’s or not!
