Oscars 2009 – Favorite Moment

So this so should have been Mickey Rourke winning the best actor award, but as that didn’t happen my favorite moment had to be Kate Winslet winning. But not just that, the way she grabbed Angelina Jolie’s hand on the way past. As seen in this picture:

Oscars 2009 – Favorite Picture

This just has to be my favorite picture from the 2009 Oscars. Don’t let her steal it Kate !!! haha. Brilliant picture of two fantastic actresses, and now both are Oscar winners :-). Kate just looks so happy to be standing talking to Meryl (and who wouldn’t?!?!).

Allen Hires Watts As His New Muse

So that’s Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins and now Naomi Watts confirmed for Woody Allen’s next film.

Naomi Watts is eager to follow in the footsteps of Oscar winner Penelope Cruz – she has signed to star in Woody Allen’s latest movie.

The Aussie actress has been cast in the as-yet-untitled film alongside Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins and will start shooting the project in London in Summer.

Cruz received critical acclaim for her turn in Allen’s latest film Vicky Cristina Barcelona – winning the Best Supporting actress trophy at the Oscars on Sunday.

Rourke ‘Moves On’ From Second Wife

Awww poor Mickey.

Actor Mickey Rourke has finally “moved on” from his failed marriage to actress Carre Otis – after trying for eight years to reconcile with her.

The pair’s six-year union hit an all-time low when Rourke was arrested in 1994 for spousal abuse, two years after they wed.

The charges were dropped after the former couple reconciled, but the Wrestler star and Otis failed to save their marriage, and finally called it quits when their divorce was finalised in 1998.

And despite blaming the split for his downward spiral into depression – resulting in well-documented run-ins with police and movie executives – Rourke admits he’s only recently gotten over his ex, who remarried in 2005.

He says, “I still love her. I love her in a different way but I waited for her for eight years (after the divorce) for her to come back. I’ve moved on now. It’s the first time I’ve been able to say that and mean it.”

Oscars 2009 – Vanity Fair Party – Michael Douglas

So Michael Douglas was one of the suprise presenters and I was happy. I love Michael. I was hoping Catherine Zeta Jones would be with him, but it looks like he took his father Kirk Douglas as his date to the Vanity Fair after show party.

Oscars 2009- The Winners Pictures

So the big winners for the acting awards were, Sean Penn, Kate Winslet, Heath Ledger and Penelope Cruz.

Oscars 2009 – The Show Pictures

So, I found the whole show fantastic and very well put together. Yes, it was probably a little less formal than previous years but maybe that is a good thing at this point in time. My favorite new thing was the whole 5 previous winners of the acting awards for each category introducing and presenting the nominees then the winner of this years award. I hope this is an idea that will follow on for many years to come.

Oscars 2009 – Red Carpet Pictures

Some pictures from the 2009 Oscars . . . on the red carpet.

Starting with my favorite man at the moment, Mickey Rourke. I thought he looked great as he kept his own style and went for something totally different. I want to know what was going on with Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s hat, I mean its the Oscars, come on no beanie type hats.

Jolie And Hanks Named Most Popular Oscar Winners Ever

Probably the expected results from this poll. Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie, voted the favorites for best actor, actress and supporting categories. Titanic favorite of the best picture winners.

Angelina Jolie, Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts have come out triumphant in a poll to find America’s favourite ever Academy Awards winners.

Hanks has twice walked away with the Best Actor Oscar, for 1993’s Philadelphia and the following year’s Forrest Gump.

He saw off competition from Russell Crowe (Gladiator) and late star Paul Newman (The Color of Money) to be crowned America’s most popular winner of the trophy, according to a joint survey by U.S. magazine Parade and Entertainment Tonight to mark the annual ceremony on Sunday.

Morgan Freeman was named the top Best Supporting Actor for 2004’s Million Dollar Baby, seeing off Sean Connery (The Untouchables) and George Clooney (Syriana).

Roberts, who won an Oscar for her turn in Erin Brockovich in 2000, was America’s favourite Best Actress winner, beating Reese Witherspoon (Walk The Line) and Jodie Foster (The Accused) to the honour.

Jolie was recognised as Best Supporting Actress in 1999’s Girl, Interrupted, and saw off Renée Zellweger (Cold Mountain) and Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost) in the Parade poll.

1997’s Titanic remains the public’s favourite Best Film winner, ahead of The Godfather and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Jackman Jokes About Oscar Night

I wouldn’t complain !!!

Australian actor Hugh Jackman has cheekily suggested he will be hosting the upcoming Oscars ceremony completely naked – following a string of rumours about his role in the show.

Jackman has been at the centre of wide speculation about his role as MC at the Academy Awards on Sunday night ever since he was unveiled as the event’s host last year.

Recent internet reports have suggested he will open the glitzy ceremony by performing a song-and-dance routine with Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway.

And Jackman has now taken the opportunity to make fun of the endless gossip surrounding the event – by jokingly declaring he will take to the stage completely naked and sing all his links.

He says, “I haven’t told anyone this, but we are going to do most of it naked and we’re going to sing through the whole show.

“In fact, all the acceptance speeches are going to be sung. There will be some interpretive dance behind them, and I really think it will be beautiful and touching.

“There will be a strategic leaf placed here or there. We don’t want to be distasteful or anything. This is a raw night. This is the Oscars. Raw emotion, that’s the quality we’re going for.”
