From Stage to Screen Blogathon

Just come across this Blogathon which is taking place next weekend! Certainly something I am very interested in given my love for theatre and going to see shows as well as going to the cinema and watching films. So my plan is to pull together a few blog posts for this one! Or at the very least one long blog post with the possibility of then having a feature running in a similar theme for the shows I have seen on the stage and also seen the film version.

The blogathon is being run by Rachel over at Rachel’s Theatre Reviews and Rosie over at The Rosebud Cinema. Such an incredible idea from the pair and I am very much looking forward to putting together a good post over the next week to take part. So thought it was a great idea to give the whole blogathon a shoutout and see if anyone else wants to get involved!

Blogathon: Guilty Pleasure Movies

Jenna and Allie over at Flick Chicks have come up with a fantastic Blogathon idea to name and possibly shame yourself with your guilty pleasure movies. Which of those you just absolutely love and they might not actually be that great!

Here are the rules…

1 – You can choose and discuss as many or as few movies as you like. We both did a Top 10, but you can just choose 1 movie if you like. Just tell us a bit about the movie and why you like it so much.

2 – Please create a new post for our Blogathon, rather than linking an old post you may have already done.

3 – Please include our Blogathon Banner anywhere in your post

4 – The deadline for entries is Sunday, 31st August, so there’s plenty of time!

1984 A-Thon

An absolutely incredible idea for a Blogathon, which currently has 108 bloggers taking part. Each taking on a different film from 1984, which is now 30 years ago! A few years (just) before my time! I will be reviewing Nineteen eight-four which yes came out in 1984 based on George Orwell’s very popular novel. Click the picture above to see the announcement post!

There is still time to get involved in the blogathon as the following films are still free to review!

Blogathon: Women in Film – Hermione Granger

The Women in Film Blogathon is being hosted by John over at Hitchcock’s World and such a great idea to get you thinking about female characters in the world of film.

Here are the rules:

  1. The female character in question should have qualities that make her strong. That doesn’t necessarily mean better than the guys, just well-written; we’re trying to promote equality here, not reverse misogyny.
  2. Unlike my previous blogathon, I’m going to be a bit stricter here and say that each entry should only focus on one character. However, if you like you can write multiple entries examining different characters.
  3. If you can, do try to find less obvious choices. There are a few that I can expect are likely to get picked: Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor, etc. If you decide to write about any the “obvious” choices, I encourage you to at least try and find something new to say about them.
  4. You are allowed to pick characters from any film from genre or time period you like.

Blogathon: Against The Crowd

Just stumbled across this blogathon and it is a fantastic idea. With the title Against the Crowd it is pretty self-explanatory you get to pick two films which everyone seems to love and you hate, and then a film everyone seems to hate and you love. Hosted by Dell on Movies!

The Rules

1. Pick one movie that “everyone” loves (the more iconic, the better). That movie must have a score of at least 80% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you hate it.

2. Pick one movie that “everyone” hates (the more notorious, the better). That movie must have a score of less than 30% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you love it.

3. Include the tomato meter scores of both movies.

Do you agree with my choices, or do you think I am totally mad?

THE GREAT VILLAIN BLOGATHON!

I am part of ‘The Great Villain Blogathon’ which is co-hosted by Ruth of Silver Screenings, Karen of Shadows & Satin and Kristina of Speakeasy. I have picked The Joker from The Dark Knight as my villain to write this blog post about. It’s certainly going to be an interesting journey into one of the best villains we have seen in recent years at the cinema.

Captain America Blogathon

Captain America aka Steve Rogers missed a lot when he was frozen between 1943 and 2011. The idea of this blogathon is to pick 10 films between those years that he should watch to catch up on what he missed out on! I was trying to come up with a format on picking my choices at first I thought Best Picture Oscar winners, but then I decided against that and would pick Best Picture nominees from over the years, so the films which did not actually win the Oscar.

So here we go with my 10 choices . . .

Breaking Emotions Blogathon – HATE & LOVE

The fourth and final set of emotions are hate and love. Probably the hardest set of emotions for actors and actresses to create on the screen? As let’s face it most of the time it all depends on the acting, however, the music and way the scene has been put together may also help create those feelings. But for it to be a truly great scene it must have all of those things mixed together.

Breaking Emotions Blogathon – SMILES & THRILLS

The third set of emotions are smiles and thrills, plenty of film scenes to pick from and hopefully I have picked some good ones that people haven’t done yet! May contain SPOILERS!

Breaking Emotions Blogathon – TEARS & SURPRISE

The second two emotions as part of the blogathon will again see three scenes from films for each of emotions chosen. These emotions are Tears and Surprise. Trying to pick just three for tears is very difficult, due to having now cried at so many film scenes over the years. This post does contain SPOILERS as most of the scenes are end of films!!
