Competition: 100 Streets

Today marks the release of 100 Streets on DVD in the UK and to celebrate I have a DVD to give away to one lucky person who is based in the UK.

Idris Elba and Gemma Arterton star in ‘A Hundred Streets’, a layered and gripping drama, which takes a fresh look at the vibrant and compelling life of residents in contemporary London – destination capital of the world. Emmy and Golden Globe nominated Jim O’Hanlon directs.

The Ultimate Sports Film

As you will always already know if you follow my blog I absolutely love Sport in Film. I work in sport and find the film appreciation of that to be something special at times.

I have therefore decided to try and come up with reasons that make a great sports film and then come up with the ultimate film that well pretty much has it all. Which might be easier said than done considering the high calibre of films available.

London Premiere – Star Wars: The Force Awakens

On Wednesday I just so happened to have a trip down to London planned to see A Christmas Carol. This had been planned since the end of September and I had no idea that it was going to be on the same day as the European Premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I have never been the biggest Star Wars fan (although that has started to change). But I was still very excited about it going on in Leicester Square at the same time I was going to be down. Luckily I was tweeting about it on the train heading into London and someone told me wristbands were being handed out inside the Odeon until 12pm. That was rather good timing as my train got in about 11am.

DC Universe – Will it be able to rival Marvel?

It has eventually started to happen, well actually DC started the universe back in 2013 with Man of Steel but in all honesty I didn’t realise that at the time. I mean come on we had a failed Superman attempt years before that with the awful Superman Returns. So another Superman attempt wasn’t a big thing. Well actually it turns out it was a huge thing!

From next year 2016, DC have slated in 10 films to release in four years. Now that really is making a statement and giving the audience a lot of new characters. Although some characters we may have seen in the past but I am very interested to see how it is all going to play out. Over the weekend because of the incredible Comic Con, Warner Brothers have spoilt us with two incredible trailers for next year’s releases. Those being Batman v Superman and The Suicide Squad.

One Last Dance

On twitter this morning I came across a Kick Starter project to make a film called “One Last Dance” staring Jonathan Pryce. Not only do I totally love him, I was also watching Evita at the time as well which was a little bit creepy. It sounds like it will be a very heart warming film so let’s try and help get it made!

“A lost love reconnects an old man with his past reigniting his passion for life in a last dance. Stars Jonathan Pryce. Music by Orbital. One Last Dance is a story about the texture of memory, lost love and the haunting intimacy of a dance.”

Hong Kong 2013 – The Batman Building

I have been back from Hong Kong for a couple of days now and was very pleased with the view from my hotel window which was the building used in The Dark Knight. This lead myself to refer to the building as “The Batman Building” hoping that everyone else had seen the film and knew what I was going on about.

I ended up taking so many different pictures on the building when I was told that it was that building (I know I didn’t work it out on my own!). But I was loving it from that moment on.

2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 160,000 times in 2011. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 7 days for that many people to see it.

Singing in the Car Movie Scenes

One of my favorite things about driving a lot and being alone in the car is singing along to the songs on the radio (or CD). So when I see a character in a film doing exactly that I really do just love it. Mainly because I can relate to it so much! I have spent quite a lot of time on YouTube trying to find clips, which has proven to be quite difficult! Let’s admit it, gone are the days of singing in the shower . . . it’s all about letting go and singing your heart out in the car. I love seeing other drivers do it as well, especially if you realise you both have the same radio station on. Just brilliant! But don’t forget that singing along in a car can be done as duet or you can get a group singing going along! Funny moments can also happen when just one person decides to go for it and sing!

Although a great one and possibly one of the best to start off with. Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire . . . now if you don’t act like this when a song you love comes on the radio, don’t forget the changing radio station to find a good song, then you must be boring whilst driving! Over to Tom . . .
