“You’ll have bad times, but it’ll always wake you up to the good stuff you weren’t paying attention to.”

I think that is a very true thing, you are going to have bad times and quite often they all seem to come at once with no sign of anything good. I think something that can be done is to simply look back at the photos you have taken on your mobile phone, that has to have something that will make you smile (although could make you even more sad for a few moments) but it should help you that yes things are bad, but they have been good as well. I felt like well nearly all of 2015 was a bad time particularly from September to December as everything went wrong, one thing after another. No light was at the end of the tunnel and I have decided to try and change my attitude for 2016 to not caring as much about the little annoying things that don’t really mean anything, so I am hoping that is going to be possible. With a few different tasks to really keep me from going absolutely crazy I guess!

“How can you ever smile, as if your life hadn’t capsized?”

Ok so this one from an English Patient may seem like a very strange post on Christmas Eve but I guess it is quite a good time to reflect on life and the previous year which in all honesty 2015 has been nowhere near fantastic. It has had a hell of a lot more lows than highs, and being off work of the past week and a bit has been pretty fantastic in all honesty. It has given me the much needed time to actually see my friends and catch up with them, the only problem is I cannot then do that every year and only be able to see some people properly at Christmas. Although it has given me quite a few days of enjoyment in all honesty, but shouldn’t life have a good balance all year round and not just for a few days or a week?

This certainly does not feel like the case well any of the time in all honesty. Maybe that should be my plan for 2016, I love the thought of keeping it film related as that is something that I use as an escapism from my very dull work filled life in all honesty. They help me switch off and I have made sure to get myself to the cinema, especially on the worst of days. I am sure a lot of people reading this will do the same with film and that is something that really aids to the enjoyment factor at times. It helps you forget about all of your problems and issues for a few hours, that really is something that each and everyone of us need now. Lifting your head up from your phone and taking something in, entertainment, art call it what you will but it helps. Trust me.

“There’s nothing more irresistible to a man than a woman who is in love with him.”

Here we go again.

I mean that in two different ways. The first being a second blog post more about life and love but using the films I love. Tonight’s post comes with a rather heartbreaking quote from The Sound of Music. Well I find it that way, considering it is the Baroness who says it to Maria about the Captain. You know the man she is actually engaged to! But the more you think about that quote the more you realise that it is true, if he knows how you feel then it seems to work against you. If he isn’t sure then he’s all for you. Seriously men you really are the complicated ones!

“Me? I’m Scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw. I’m scared of what I did, of who I am and most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.”

I have decided to start a new type of blog post on here, using a film quote that comes close to how I am feeling I am going to vent my thoughts and probably stress (and massive overthinking) in an attempt to get rid of it all to be honest. I am not going to set how often these blogs will be but I guess that just depends what exactly is going on in my life. Although I don’t really have a massive amount of a life at the moment, so much work and no time for much else. That is one of the reasons I love going to the cinema, that is my switch off and relaxing time (well maybe not always relaxing if I pick an awful film). This will be extremely film related though so don’t worry!

Having had a very tough few months and the past week with not a massive amount of sleep, I think it does play with your mind and makes it more difficult to see things rationally. That who paranoid state seems to creep in and you doubt well pretty much anything and everything. I think the above exchange between Portman and Kutcher is a great way to start, what a feeling right?

Real loss is only possible when you love something more than you love yourself

It has been two weeks now since my Grandad passed away and I am still struggling to come to terms with the fact that he is no longer with us. That I won’t be able to just pop round to his house and see him, whilst also getting made fun of (in a loving joking way). I feel like that is the hardest thing to get your head around when it comes to a loss like this.

Why we must search for the Silver Lining!

So two days after I have seen Silver Linings Playbook and it is still on my mind, I actually used the phrase silver lining today after something changed with work and I have to do something else in the morning. But I worked out my silver lining for that, but if I had not just seen this film I probably wouldn’t have used that phrase! So the point of this blog post? Well just to show that films really can have a big impact on your thinking, they can help you get a clear perspective for something and really change your mindset about life.

London 2012: Opening Ceremony

Danny Boyle took on the task of doing the Opening Ceremony for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. A film theme was seen throughout as it celebrated the best of British. Everything from well-known and loved actors, songs, films and athletes were all involved from start to finish.

The ceremony focused on how England has changed and developed over the years, with countryside to start with and then what happened as the industrial revolution hit and brought all the way up to the present day and how social media has now taken over everyday life. It really was just breathtaking and incredible to watch. The appearance from Kenneth Branagh near the start and his small speech from Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ was just fantastic, he looked so proud to be there and involved so happy which made it even better to watch.

We were never really sure what was going to happen next and which direction the show was going to head in. We had a brilliant performance from Rowan Atkinson as his very famous character Mr Bean with a Chariots of Fire piece. It really was so funny. Helping to show the sense of humour side to Britain which was talked about as being very important from the off. The vision from Boyle was truly amazing to come up with all of the different things. Mary Poppins defeating Lord Voldemort and J.K Rowling reading an extract from Peter Pan.

My favorite part came when Daniel Craig as James Bond was shown with the Queen and her greeting of “Good Evening Mr Bond” was just incredible. As he then escorted her to the opening in such incredible style, making it look like she jumped out of the helicopter to get there. Showing that The Queen really does have a sense of humour and willing to get involved in an amazing show.

After the unbelievable spectacle that we saw unfold the athletes were to come in and that took so long, tweets at that point were rather amusing and spot on that it was like a Geography lesson  when countries we had never heard of kept appearing. I didn’t think I knew that few countries as we started a guessing game at each letter and I don’t think we ever got them all right!

Waiting the arrival of Team GB and as it got closer you could hear the crowd getting more excited as that meant we would eventually find out who was going to light the flame and what it was going to look like! But after Team GB lead by Chris Hoy arrived we did not have long to wait. With David Beckham passing the flame onto Sir Steve Redgrave but that wasn’t it. He carried the flame into the stadium but along with other brilliant Olympians they passed torches and flames onto some promising young athletes which kept in with the theme of inspiring a generation which I found to be an incredible touch to it all. The flame was amazing as well as it all lit up and then formed a huge flame as it all lifted together another breathtaking moment which became even more breathtaking as the incredible fireworks began!

This brought a cue for the ending and what better way that a British anthem . . . Hey Jude was to be sung, which would and should have been incredible but Sir Paul McCartney really seems to be struggling now. If only they had kept the Artic Monkeys around to help him sing it. It really was a brilliant idea for the ending though, as we waited and waited for Hey Jude at the Queen’s Jubilee concert.

Overall though it was a truly incredible opening ceremony, so moving from start to finish and such an amazing way to start the 2012 Olympic Games.  Really proud to be British!

Come on Team GB!

Busy, busy times again!

Hello to everyone in the movie blogging world and who regularly read this blog. The lack of updates recently are due to basically my lack of time being able to update it! It also doesn’t help that I have not been to the cinema very often in the last few weeks! Hopefully I will be able to sort that out so I have new films to review.

I have been updating my personal blog with my viewsand venting some rants from the situations I have found myself in here.

Hope everyone is well, and doesn’t give up on the blog having more updates again!

Busy Times!!!

I have been extremly busy over the past month or so and have not really been to see many films at the cinema, hence the lack of updates to my blog. But panic over I shall be making much more of an effort to get my blog back on track! I do have a few reviews in the drafts and attempt to finish and post them asap!

All About Me . . . My Personal Blog

Well I have pretty much had my other blog domain for longer than this film blog. I did not really get into posting very much. But decided that it would be a good idea recently so I can put my random thoughts down and not take up any space on this blog . . . well apart from this post haha.

I have also been working on my own website but hit a break wall with that at the moment. So if you fancy reading more about me and my random moments then check out that blog.
