Hanks Defends Angels & Demons Against Catholic Criticism

I bet Tom was ready for some criticism after all of the stuff surrounding The Da Vinci Code.

Hollywood star Tom Hanks is baffled by the criticism his new film Angels & Demons has attracted from leading Roman Catholics – because he insists there is “nothing sacrilegious” about the murder mystery.

The actor plays Harvard symbologist Dr. Robert Langdon in the big screen adaptation of author Dan Brown’s book, about the murder of a physicist and a terrorist act against the Vatican by a secret brotherhood.

The movie is a prequel to 2006’s The Da Vinci Code, based on another of Brown’s hit books, which came under fire from Catholic leaders who claimed the film attacked the core beliefs of their faith.

Angels & Demons has been met with similar criticism before it is even released – but Hanks is adamant there is nothing offensive about the film.

He tells the New York Daily News, “People will see there’s nothing sacrilegious about it at all. Yes, we had a few things go on that are completely fictionalised; but there’s no reason to have a big hurly-burly over what is essentially a whodunit (murder mystery).

“There’s no major theological discussion that goes on, other than science versus faith. There’s no winner in that argument. I just solve the murder.”

Angels & Demons is set to hit cinemas later this month.

News: Foster To Direct Carrey?

For some reason I really like the sound of this . . . random I know.

Funnyman Jim Carrey could soon be taking orders from Jodie Foster – the actress is in talks to direct his new film The Beaver.

The movie, written by Kyle Killen, is about a man who becomes reliant on his beaver hand puppet for company.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Steve Carrell, who was previously linked to the leading role, looks set to be replaced by Carrey and Foster is in negotiations to helm the project.

News: Pattinson Acting Dilemma Shaped New Film Role

Thats cool that he can take real life experiences into his acting.

Robert Pattinson had no problems playing a man experiencing an identity crisis in his new film – he suffered severe teenage angst before his career took off.

The Twilight star was torn between training to become an actor or pursuing academic success at university when he was younger.

Fame called out to Pattinson and he landed his first major role playing wizard Cedric Diggory in 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

But the career dilemma helped the 22 year old relate to his role in How To Be, in which he plays Art, a man who is going through a ‘quarter life crisis’.

Pattinson says, “It’s just kind of feeling you don’t really know where you’re going in the world. At the time I thought that – I didn’t know if I wanted to be an actor, I didn’t know what I was doing, I hadn’t been to university.

“I was bumming around, not feeling particularly good at anything but at the same time desperately wanting to and thinking ‘You’ll never reach your own goals you set for yourself’.”

Jackman’s Fear Of Dolls

Awww poor Hugh !!!

Action man Hugh Jackman has dashed his hardman persona – he’s scared of dolls coming to life.

The X-Men star admits he is spooked whenever kids’ toys are brought to life on-screen – and he has traced his fears back to watching horror movie Child’s Play as a youngster, which featured a murderous doll named Chucky.

He says, “When dolls come to life in films, that just freaks me out, I just can’t stand that. Chucky? Forget that. I remember when I was a little kid, and that little doll in the rocking chair going, ‘Take the girl right up the hill and kiss the girl goodbye’… I’m like, forget that! That freaks me out.”

Bale Slices Finger In Biking Accident

I love that he thought it was cool, haha.

British actor Christian Bale has been left with a disfigured finger after slicing off the top of the digit in a dirt-biking accident.

The Dark Knight star hurt himself during an action excursion earlier this year and has been left with a mangled left index finger which will be scarred for life.

But Bale admits he barely felt the injury – and didn’t realise how serious it was until he caught sight of his bloodied hand.

He says, “I had a dirt-biking accident and chopped it off at the end. You have something as extreme as that – you’ve lost the end of your finger – but it didn’t hurt.

“I just kept looking at it, going, ‘Why is that not hurting?’ The body’s amazing. It (the finger) looks horrible. Everyone else almost faints looking at it.”

Lucas Becomes A Part Of Sarandon/Robbins Family

Awww I think this is just sooo cute !!! I love Susan !!!

Movie star Josh Lucas feels like a member of Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins’ family after shooting back-to-back films with the couple and their kids.

The actor worked with Sarandon on new movie Peacock and she suggested he star in her partner’s new film Possible Side Effects.

Lucas says, “It’s about a pharmaceutical family and Tim and Susan’s kids are in the film. Eva (Amurri) plays my daughter and Miles (Robbins) plays my son.

“It was kind of odd because we really looked like a family.”

News: McConaughey’s Animal Fantasies

I would bet a lot of people fantasize about Matthew !!!

Matthew McConaughey has an unusual pastime – the actor fantasises surviving in the wilderness when he wants to entertain himself.

The Wedding Planner star has a passion for exotic travel and admits he frequently imagines himself fending off attacks by dangerous beasts on his journeys, armed only with a knife to defend himself.

He says, “I travel a lot in some wild places. I’m always thinking, ‘What if I came across a grizzly bear? What is by best chance of survival? What if a gator (alligator) gets me?'”

But McConaughey has yet to test out any of his wild theories of escape – and the actor hopes to keep it that way.

He adds, “I don’t know if they’d (my theories) work at all. I’m not sure what I want to do with the gator. With the grizzly bear I’ve got a better idea… I hope it doesn’t happen.”

Labeouf: ‘I Should Never Have Been Driving On Crash Night’

I think its very strange but also big of Shia to admit that he should not have been driving the night of his crash. Its also quite sad that a 22 year old is in AA.

Shia Labeouf has confessed he should never have been behind the wheel of a vehicle the night he crashed his truck in Hollywood last September.

The Transformers star was never charged with drink driving after the accident, even though police suspended his license, claiming the actor had failed to co-operate with them directly after the crash – but he’s coming clean in a new Playboy magazine interview.

Labeouf, 22, says, “I had a whiskey and three beers. I’m not going to start speaking on law stuff now and corner myself, but the fact that I ever got into the car was a mistake.”

The star is preparing for his third surgery on his shattered hand, which was badly damaged when he flipped his truck after colliding with another car – and he admits the headline-grabbing smash was a huge wake-up call.

He adds, “I’m in AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) now, too. I’ve had drinks, but it has been a levelling-out process. Am I an alcoholic? I may not be. I don’t know. But I also know that, in the situation I’m in, with temptations what they are, I have no room for alcohol in my life.”

Foxx Wants To Make Tyson Biopic

I think this would be a very good idea !!!

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx wants to bring Mike Tyson’s life story to the big screen and play the fallen boxing champ in a new biopic.

The actor won critical acclaim for his portrayal of soul legend Ray Charles in 2004’s Ray, but he admits there’s one other person he’s desperate to portray in a movie.

He says, “I think I would have to play Mike Tyson. I’ve talked to Mike several times and his story is the most tragic American story… Mike’s story is about what America and the world is about today.

“Coming up at 18 years old and getting his $60 million and not teaching him what taxes are about, about vultures, about people who will never be real with you as long as you have the money.

And Foxx reveals he’s already set the wheels in motion to make his dream become a reality: “I’m working on securing the rights to the movie.”

Tyson became the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion at the age of 21 when he secured the World Boxing Council, the World Boxing Association, and the International Boxing Federation’s world heavyweight titles – going down in history as the youngest man to ever achieve such a feat.

He’s also the subject of an acclaimed new documentary, Tyson, about his rise and fall.

Jackman Plans Carousel Trip With Oscars Partner Hathaway

I think Hugh and Anne would make a fantastic pairing for a new version of Carousel *fingers crossed*

Hugh Jackman is trying to persuade his Oscars dancing partner Anne Hathaway to join him on the Carousel.

The Aussie star has developed a script for the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical and he wants Hathaway to play Julie Jordan opposite his Billy Bigelow.

He says, “I’ve been looking to do a musical film for some time and after things like Moulin Rouge!, Chicago and Hairspray, I think there’s a real opportunity there.”

And he’s clear only Hathaway will do as his leading lady: “I’ve been filling up her answering machine with messages about Carousel.”

Hathaway, who joined Jackman for a song and dance at the Oscars, is about to embark on her own musical journey – she will star in a new theatre and film adaptation of The Wizard of Oz star Judy Garland’s life.
