Bobby Robson: More Than a Manager (2018) Review

A truly fitting tribute to a legend both on and off the football pitch. An inspirational manager and football man, still thought of and loved by many. This film gives a more intimate look at his life alongside the football.

Cineworld Secret Screening 8 – Possible Films

Exciting news just announced from Cineworld is that we are getting the 8th Secret Screening very soon. Just incase you somehow have no idea what the Secret Screening set up is, you have no idea what film you are going to be watching before heading into the Cinema. Which creates suspense and gives us a couple of weeks to try to guess which film it could be, as usual I have put together some of my guesses. I am spaced out the films over a month from this date into July as the last secret screening was Love, Simon and it was a pretty advanced screening!

Over the years we have now had many different genres as our Secret Screening and that certainly helps to keep it interesting. Usually though smaller films which need a little bit extra publicity are the previews.

Date: Wednesday 20th June 2018

Nothing Like a Dame (2018) Review

8316_6080

Nothing Like a Dame is a truly fantastic documentary where four outstanding actresses with amazing careers sit down and have a chat, about the good old days and how things have changed. Considering my love for film and the theatre this really was the perfect watch for myself. Brilliant to see four women who have achieved so much given the opportunity to get together all now over eighty years old!

The Bridges of Madison County

I absolutely love this scene in The Bridges of Madison County! Easily one of my favourite romantic dramas, with so many heartbreaking scenes!

Adventureland (2009) Review

In the summer of 1987, James Brennan must take a ‘nowhere job’ at a local amusement park after graduating college and finding out his parents cannot fund his summer trip to Europe or his post-grad courses the following year! He is about to have a wake up call into the real world . . .

A look back at 2008 in film!

I thought it was about time to take a little look back at the world of film a whole decade ago, yes really we have had Heath Ledger’s Joker for that long now! I was seriously hoping for a re-release at the cinema in all honesty, felt it would have been perfect to celebrate the 10th anniversary.

Why So Serious?

I am going to take a look at some of the films that I enjoyed most from 2008, this might be looking back to having seen them for the first time at the cinema or just catching up with them later. It’s actually quite scary when you look back 10 years and not realise which films were actually released then and we can now call old. I would think most of them are standing the test of time pretty well in all honesty.

A very long friendship of over 30 years between Steve Martin and Martin Short has led them to a Netflix special show which certainly does showcase the writing and comedy they have been so well-known for. Adding in some clever songs and poking fun at themselves, each other and everyone else!

Father’s Day is fast approaching Sunday 17th June 2018 . . .

What films do you think about when you think of your Dad and what have they got you into in terms of films? Well, I certainly have to say that for myself Arnie is an actor that I think my Dad made me a fan of! He is one of my ultimate guilty pleasures along with Stallone!
