7 Films That Disappointed Me in 2018

Sometimes the hype surrounding a film can build it up so much that you are therefore left disappointed. Which is why I like to put this list together, I mean the disappointment might even be from yourself building the film up as you are excited to see it! Which I guess happens mainly with sequels now.

So check out the films that left me the most disappointed in 2018 . . .

7 Films That Surprised Me in 2018

Some films you manage to see without much build up or expectation and you end up very surprised. I guess this is how we manage to find hidden gems and one of the main reasons to keep your options open and give different genres a chance.

It was quite tough to put my list down to only seven films but here are the final ones . . .

Top 10 – Films I Caught Up With in 2018

Throughout 2018 I managed to catch up with 48 older films and have decided to put together a top 10 list out of those films. You will be probably be quite surprised that some of these films I did not see until recently as some quality films. Always good to set yourself a challenge to catch up. I am happy that I managed to get 48 first time watches of films that does not include new cinema releases. With the films I have chosen for my top 10 list I pretty much was left wondering why I had never seen the film before!

Here are the 10 films that have made my list (in no particular order) . . .

Top 10 – Best Films of 2018

I have seen some fantastic films during 2018 and had a list of 22 films to dwindle down to make my top 10 best films list! Which was certainly a good thing but also some tough decisions. Here are the films that made my list . . .  Continue reading “Top 10 – Best Films of 2018”

Top 10 – Worst Films of 2018

Each year I find this list harder to put together considering I feel I make better choices when it comes to which films that I find myself watching. But obviously you are still going to come across some pretty awful films. I would just like to put a reminder on that this is obviously just my opinion! (You can check which films I saw at the cinema during 2018 here and 2018 films tagged here).  This all done by UK release date as well!

Here are the films that made it onto my top 10 worst of 2018 list . . .

Goodbye FilmStruck!

0FDBE9B9-AF8A-4753-9A95-3075132A28C9

Sad news broke yesterday that streaming service FilmStruck would be closing at the end of November. On the 29th November 2018 to be exact, I am rather shocked about this news as a few days ago I received an email informing me of which films were going to be added to the UK version for November.

The service has always offered high quality and well-regarded films from the Criterion Collection and TCM. All of which are not easily available in the UK, it is such a huge blow for classic film screening. As much as I love the services offered by Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, FilmStruck offered something a little different. You don’t have to spend as much time searching for a film that will be outstanding on FilmStruck, Netflix and Amazon while finding a hidden gem, I have also watched some awful films on them.
