Oscars 2025 – Best Picture

My coverage in the build up to this years Oscars has been a little poor, mainly due to having to catch up with some of the Best Picture nominees and therefore I have only managed to put this together hours before the awards.

Which film do you want to win Best Picture?

I have decided to include the ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb and Letterboxd.

Oscars 2024 – Best Picture

The 2024 Best Picture on the whole are pretty good, usually I find that a film I utterly hated gets nominated and that is not the case this year. One film in the list I feel doesn’t belong, but more for quality rather than having anything I hated about it. Which means in my opinion it is a strong year with the films, also including my favoruite film of 2023 as well, which I guess is always a bonus.

Lost in Translation (2003): A Masterpiece

Released in 2003 or the 9th January 2004 in the UK to be exact. Meant at that point I was only 16 years old and in my first year at college. Although I am not fully sure the first time I watched Lost in Translation, maybe later in 2004? So I was possibly 17 and quite frankly I did not like the film on that first viewing. BUT that makes sense now really in hindsight at that age nothing at happened to me and it wouldn’t be until years later that I would make a full connection with this film and fully realise just how much of a masterpiece it really is.

Oscars 2022 – Best Picture

I always enjoy the Best Picture race and attempting to watch all of the nominated films, it’s something I have tried to do since 2009 when Let’s Go To The Movies was created and I have the forever ongoing Best Picture Project which is not only to watch the winners but each nominated film. While I don’t believe it is something I will ever complete I still like the challenge.

This year at the 2022 Oscars we have ten nominees for Best Picture and in all honesty I think I actually did pretty well to see a few at the cinema and then some on streaming services, given the vast differences in the way films are now released.
