In 2014 I managed to go and see 15 musicals and plays on stage in both the North East (Sunderland Empire or Theatre Newcastle) as well as trips to London to see them in the West End. I also caught Monty Python and a concert of Elaine Paige. It has been an incredible year for going to see plenty of shows and live acting. I honestly didn’t realise I had seen so many until getting ready to do this blog post.
Along with seeing an absolute icon in Elaine Paige in her farewell concert, I also managed a last-minute trip to see the legend of Angela Lansbury on her return to the West End after 30 years in Blithe Spirit. But it doesn’t stop there, I got to meet one of my favourite actors Bill Nighy after the incredible Skylight and an added bonus of Carey Mulligan! What a day that was.
In the summer of 1984 the mining strikes were in full force. This film is based on the true story of a group based in London who decided that they would like to help the miners during this difficult time. They understood the clashes with police, Gays and Lesbians Support the Miners.
Considering I have watched this film quite a few times in the past week, yes really! I forgot how much I loved it from when I went to see it at the cinema. You can check my review out here. So I have decided on the ‘How long will I love you’ version from that film for this weeks musical moments. I really do think its such a fantastic version of the song!
Still cannot believe I got to meet Bill Nighy last week and see him perform on stage. So yes he is involved in another blog post, if you check out his tag on the blog you will see my obsession goes back to at the very least 2009 … although that is when this blog was created so maybe a long time before that! So here we go with 7 extremely cool photos of the one and only Mr Bill Nighy!
Skylight made a double whammy for the stage door and this one is extremely exciting because lets face it who does not love Bill Nighy and think he is just awesome? He is such a cool man and was brilliant signing autographs and posing for photos! Here’s mine :-). Brilliant especially when I have been such a fan of Bill’s for years now. Really topped off seeing an incredible performance in an amazing show!
