Let’s Go To The Movies – 15 Films for 15 Years!

Yesterday was the first day that I posted on this blog (read here) and I felt as though I had to do something else more film related for the occasion of somehow keeping it all going for 15 years, so I thought I would pick my favourite film from each year, which possibly won’t link up with other posts of best films for each year.

Get involved yourself in the comments and pick your favourite and/or best films from the past 15 years!

#Bloganuary – What is your mission?

Daily writing prompt
What is your mission?

Considering my blogging in 2023 was probably the lowest since Let’s Go To The Movies began way back in 2009 I am seeing my mission for 2024 to get back into it a little bit more. That doesn’t mean I intend to watch as many films as possible again like I did many years ago, but just write different lists or blog posts away from reviews and about different aspects of films.

I feel as though when choosing films as the cinema I have got better at picking films I will most likely enjoy and avoiding those that I don’t. Although we know that we will still stumble across films that we just find extremely bad that’s for sure! That is one thing I have always enjoyed about film blogging, the fact that I might love or hate a film and someone else could be the total opposite but when you read the review of someone who had that opposite opinion you can fully appreciate why they felt that way.

Basically then my mission is to get back on track with more quality on Let’s Go To The Movies.

13 Years of Let’s Go To The Movies

That’s right another year all done and dusted since I started Let’s Go To The Movies, if you told me back on the 9th February 2009 that 13 years later my little film blog would still be going rather strong I probably wouldn’t have believed you at all!

Film Reviews – 1927

RT Rejection

A few weeks ago now the latest additions to the Rotten Tomatoes critics were revealed and I applied again after applying many years ago now and never getting a reply. This year though I got a rejection, which I felt was better than nothing. My feedback wasn’t great and was directed at my reviews (or some of them anyway) not having enough substance to them and errors. I was a little bit gutted about it to be honest when I first read it.

But.

It then reminded me of something, I do Let’s Go To The Movies as a hobby and started because I was going to the cinema so often and wanted to use this blog as a place to review the films I was watching. I never ever thought twelve years ago when starting it that it would still be going strong now and that I would have been in a list four years in row of Top 10 UK Film Blogs, something I have fallen out of the past two years. I don’t get paid for reviewing films, I actually pay quite a bit myself for the domain and upgrades to have more photo and video space. I do get the occasional screeners but it’s not a source of income and never will be.

12 Years of Let’s Go To The Movies

Today marks 12 years since starting Let’s Go To The Movies and in that time I have blogged a lot about the films I truly adore and love, although also come across I don’t like and sometimes hate. Isn’t that one of the best things about watching films though? I certainly think so the discussion around films you just got and the ones you just didn’t.

Thanks to everyone for the support over these past 12 years, it has seen Let’s Go To The Movies make a UK Top 10 Film Blog four years in a row, but since been a couple of years now since making that list. I’ve done well though going for this long on just a little hobby right?

1727 Film Reviews

I thought this year I would celebrate with Harry and Sally, one of the greatest film moments of all time, considering it took them 12 years and 3 months to get together and married after their first meeting.
