Breaking Emotions Blogathon – TEARS & SURPRISE

The second two emotions as part of the blogathon will again see three scenes from films for each of emotions chosen. These emotions are Tears and Surprise. Trying to pick just three for tears is very difficult, due to having now cried at so many film scenes over the years. This post does contain SPOILERS as most of the scenes are end of films!!

Breaking Emotions Blogathon – FEAR & AWKWARD

The first two emotions for this blogathon are Fear and Awkward. What happens is I will select three scenes from films for each of the emotions and do my best to explain exactly why I have picked them but hopefully it will be easy to see why!

Breaking Emotions Blogathon

Just came across this Blogathon set up over at Mettel Ray’s blog last night so quickly jumping in and starting my blogs about it! Very interesting looking at the different emotions and how different scenes in films help to bring those out. Looking forward to picking the films I can relate to for each emotion.

You can find more information in the announcement post here.

Happy 6 Years???

Yesterday when checking my blog I received the above notification wishing me a Happy Anniversary with WordPress! I was very shocked when it said 6 years as I didn’t think that I’d created my account that long ago. I was under the impression that I created me account not long before I launched Let’s Go To The Movies which was in February 2009. I also thought this was the first blog I ran on WordPress so maybe I had the idea in mind a couple of years before eventually going for it with this blog? I am a little confused in all honesty!

While on this matter I did miss posting my Happy 4 Years to Let’s Go To The Movies back in February so thought I’d just talk a little in this blog post. I have managed to review a lot of films recently (mainly from Netflix and the odd cinema release). Something which I had been slacking in at times during last year. I think as a film blogger you sometimes go through phases where you don’t have the time to write reviews or seem to lose your voice a little. I think sometimes certain films are much harder to review than others, I am sure you can all understand what I mean with that!

I have been aware that I haven’t managed to do any lists recently and decided that the way forward is to find as many blogathon’s as possible and really get involved in some posts which require more thought as well as comparing to fellow bloggers. So if you have or know of any Blogathon’s currently taking place or that will be taking place in the future, please let me know! I am hoping this year I will manage to be creative enough to start my own Blogathon!

Blogathon: My Movie Alphabet

Stumbled across Mettel Ray Movie Blog and spotted a fantastic blogathon and thought I would get involved. Fantastic idea of coming up with your movie alphabet making it consist of moviesdirectorsactors and actresses who’s lives revolve around movies.

The way I decided to approach picking my alphabet was to put down the first 5 movie related things that came to mind for the certain letter! Well most of the time 5 . . . That was actually harder than I thought!

Blogathon – My Movie Year

Andy over at Fandango Groovers Movie Blog  has set up yet another fantastic blogathon to get involved in. If you have a blog/website get involved! Pick your favorite movie year and back up your choices with the five films that make that year your favorite. Let Andy know you are doing it by clicking the link above!

Haven’t quite decided on my year yet . . .

Houdini’s Magic Ticket

What character would you most like to be sat next to on a plane?

Delores Van Cartier from Sister Act/Sister Act 2

What character would you most want to enjoy a passionate romance with?

Noah from ‘The Notebook’

If you were a cop who would you want as your partner?

Martin Riggs from Lethal Weapon Series

What animated feature would you love to walk around in?

Make that swim . . . Finding Nemo

What adventure based on earth would you most like to go on / OR / What adventure based in an otherworldly, fantasy-based location would you most like to go on?

Middle Earth in the quest to destroy the one ring . . . Lord of the Rings

What movie gadget would you love to try out (or steal)?

What film’s plot would you alter and how would you do it?

What one film would you most want to be transported into, simply to be a part of that world?

Harry Potter . . . Hogwarts would have been so much fun

Cool Off With The Classics

Cool off with the Classics . . . a blogathon consisting of a top 10 list of some classic black and white films. It didn’t really take very long for a few of the films to come straight to my mind for this list. I am not going to put them in any particular order, but 10 films are included.

Marc from Go, See, Talk has done it again with another fantastic blogathon and you can see the original post linked to everyone else’s posts here.

While some films came straight to my mind, I actually found it quite difficult to get to ten films without ending up with mainly Mae West and Marx Brothers films in the list. This has made me realise that I have a lot of films that I must watch!

After making the list I got to thinking about how all of the films I have chosen have so many quotes that are still repeated and loved today. Is that due to the black and white look of the films or just how times have changed? Also performance wise just seems to be so much better than a lot of the current day films.

Double Feature Theatre

The double feature theatre is what I would show in a week, the theme for the whole week is going to be Sports films. Each day we will have two films on from the same sport. I work in sport and have a degree in sport, so the chance to relate my love of watching films in my spare time and how I make my living seemed like such a good way to go with my theatre. A lot of sports films have been very good and very well receieved. I have decided to pick different sport’s for the double feature with three that don’t fit into the others for the triple play on the Sunday.

When possible I have tried to have women and men’s sport in the selections, but also not just films focused on the players/athletes of a sport. I have also tried to remember about the fans and agents who are also a massive part of sport as well.
