Is James Bond the saviour of UK Cinemas?

No Time To Die was originally meant to be released in April 2020 and was the first big film to announce it was pushing back to November 2020 but as things went on and we had the cinemas closed for months and then an attempt at reopening in the July 2020 didn’t fully go to plan for all chains with Cineworld quickly closing once again and rumours surrounding if they would ever actually be able to reopen.

Odeon made a longer attempt to stay open but considering no new releases and people being somewhat scared to actually attend the cinema they had to close again as well, it was actually very sad times wondering if Cinema would survive the pandemic. With some companies releasing films straight to streaming services and charging cinema prices to rent and watch at home it was a worrying time for those of us who love nothing more than attending the cinema.

No Time To Die (2021) Review

James Bond had left active service and somewhat retired, but was that ever really going to fully happen? He certainly hoped so, but when Felix Leiter his old friend from the CIA turns up asking for his help it isn’t long before he is dragged back into everything to figure out the dangerous villain who has developed some fatal new technology.

No Time For Bond

James Bond has been hit by the Coronavirus, that’s right 007 which was due for release in a month (2nd April) has now been pushed back until November. MGM, Universal and the producers of No Time To Die announced this yesterday. Considering cinemas had just started taking bookings in the past week as well it is truly devastating for them and the abuse they are now going to face from people who were already demanding refunds.

The new release date for the UK is now 12th November 2020 and the US on 25th November 2020 and other worldwide release dates to follow!

Billie Eilish – No Time To Die

Isn’t it nice to wake up to something exclusive from the film world? Well, I hope it’s not just me who feels that way. Here we have Billie Eilish and the next Bond theme “No Time To Die”.

I like the sound of this as it fits with what we expect from a good Bond theme and ballad!

What do you think?

Musical Moments – Nobody Does It Better

As another small tribute to the passing of Sir Roger Moore, I decided to have a musical moment today from one of his Bond outings in The Spy Who Loved Me with Carly Simon taking on the vocal role with Nobody Does It Better.

Top 10 – Films I Caught Up With in 2015

I really do try to catch up with films that I have not seen before each year (and yes I still have a massive number of DVDs that have been sitting on my shelf for films I still haven’t watched yet) as I find this often to be such a good break from the films that are released at the cinema, as let’s face it certain times of year we seem to be getting the same thing over and over again and we all know March/April are awful months at the cinema. That was also why I set up the Best Picture Project in order to increase the quality of some of the films I watch. I think some of that will be clear in these 10 films I have picked that I am now pleased I have caught up with!

I always find the best thing about doing this top 10 list is that people are always shocked that I had never seen certain films up until this (or now last year).

I haven’t included any of the Bond films in the list but thought it was very appropriate to make sure that I mentioned that 2015 was the year that I officially caught up and have now seen every single Bond film! Something which was very trying and testing but I managed to complete the challenge of my Bondathon!

Bondathon: Bond in Motion (Cars of Spectre)

Back in July 2014 I first went to the Bond in Motion exhibition at the London Film Museum in Covent Garden. You can read about it here. But after completing my Bondathon and eventually catching up with a lot of the films I decided to take another trip to the Film Museum on Wednesday. They had also added the Cars of Spectre to it along with some of the costumes, so I decided that another trip would be a very good idea.

Bondathon: Ranking the 24 Films

As I was making my way through the Bond films I was putting them in a ranking list from Best to Worst. I thought that would be the easiest way to do it as would probably forget exactly what happened in each of the films. So basically when ranking them I just decided which film I liked it better than and placed it in the list. Some of them were extremely difficult to pick where to put them so I might not even be able to justify it’s place in the list. But here you have 1-24 in order from Best to Worst MY Bond list!
