Cinema First – The 450 Films For UK Cinemas!

Today Cinema First released a list of films that can be used at cinemas when they reopen in July. With Cineworld being the first to announce a date for England on 10th July they will then need films to show. The list has a very wide variety of genres as well as from all decades. I personally hope to see a lot of older films on the big screen for the first time, I don’t want recent ones given a release! Let’s appreciate some amazing films on the big screen for what could well be the very first time (Yes Casablanca and Some Like It Hot I am talking about you, not forgetting my all time favourite When Harry Met Sally!)

The first two emotions for this blogathon are Fear and Awkward. What happens is I will select three scenes from films for each of the emotions and do my best to explain exactly why I have picked them but hopefully it will be easy to see why!

MTV Movie Awards 2012 – Winners

The MTV Movie Awards are voted for by the public, but definitely a young group of people. It always seems to be battle of the fandoms on who will pick up the different awards. This year seemed to be know different as Harry Potter, The Hunger Games and The Twilight Saga all went head to head. I think some of the categories show quite a wide range of actors and performance types but at the end of the day it’s more of a popularity contest than anything else.

Breakthrough Performance
Elle Fanning – Super 8
Melissa McCarthy – Bridesmaids
Liam Hemsworth – The Hunger Games
Rooney Mara – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Shailene Woodley – The Descendants – WINNER

Top 10 – Best Films of 2011

This is my list of what I thought to be the top 10 films. I have not seen every film released, so please take that into consideration! Remember this is what I saw in the cinema in 2011. All of the films on this list may have slightly different reasons for being on it, but I will try to give my reasons as we count down. Mainly they are on the list because I enjoyed them and they left a lasting impression.

Bridesmaids (2011) Review

To start with I have to say that this film is very different from what you think it is going to be like after seeing the trailer. That’s not a bad thing at all, I laughed from start to finish whilst feeling sorry for our main character Annie.

Summer 2011 at the Movies

As we are entering June, the summer films are going to be coming out thick and fast over the next couple of months. Let’s have a look and see what we have to look forward to! As with most summer films, a lot seem to be based around comic books. We have another installment from X-Men (hopefully doing better than Wolverine) and the much anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger, which is the last film in the build up to ‘The Avengers’ which is due out next year. A couple of comedies thrown in. But let’s face it, this summer is about the final Harry Potter film, part 2 of the Deathly Hallows. The end of the franchise after 10 years since it all began.

It doesn’t seem that many out and out romantic comedies are going for a summer release (unless of course I have missed them). Definitely more for the action and adventure angle this summer!

What films are you looking forward to most this summer?
