2023 Letterboxd Stats!

This has become one of my favourite things to look at that the end of the year, actually who am I kidding it’s something I actually monitor throughout the year as well. I love stats for anything and everything because let’s face it you cannot argue against that type of information.

My film viewing in 2023 was lower than normal and that was mainly due to some personal struggles and battles, I think with that though I managed to watch mainly ok and good films, obviously the odd bad one will sneak in but I feel as though I made better choices.

This year we have a new themes cateogry thrown in as well! I did try to keep rewatches a lower and focus on first time viewings and I manged 67.5%.

What are your stats for 2023?

Which film did you watch the most, and who were your top stars?

Let’s Go To The Movies – 50 Favourite Films!

This is something I have been putting together for quite a long time now and I have held off posting it or even attempting to start the blog post in fear that I have forgotten and somehow missed a favourite film from the list. Barring in mind I got up to 72 films and then had to cut it down to the 50. I would like to make clear these are my favourite films, some might have happened to win Oscars as well and some certainly have not at all. The way I have decided on my favourites is the sheer joy they bring and the number of rewatches I have had over the years. While I have listed 1-50 a lot of them can be shifted around and changed with each other. It is going to highlight my love for musicals and for certain actors and actresses! I doubt it will contain many surprises though!

Brief Encounter – 75th Anniversary

On Wednesday I was lucky enough to be able to get to a screening of Brief Encounter at the cinema, Odeon in the Metro Centre to be exact! A film that is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year and one that I have watched many times over the years and consider it to be one of my favourites. To see this incredible film on the big screen was a truly fantastic time.

Released in 1945 and still having so much to offer in 2020 is a remarkable achievement. Something that I don’t think happens too often, everything she goes through and talks about “in her head” we can still relate to now. Yes, we have technology and social media etc but the feelings of love and despair are something that have not really changed.

Brief Encounter – Quote!

Something fascinates me with old films when they show that humanity is forever doomed to repeat itself. Brief Encounter was released in 1945 and is a truly incredible and amazing film for so many different reasons.

How about this incredible quote!

A Timely Blogathon

a-timely-blogathon-1_zpsb5yo5deq

As movie bloggers, we all need to find the time and energy to juggle both tasks of watching a movie and then writing our review of it online.

They can be very time consuming activities, so Anna (of Film Grimoire) and Rob (MovieRob) have thought of a temporary solution.

It’s a very timely theme and this Blogathon will be all about Time-saving movies, 90 minutes or less.

You can pick any movie (or movies) that your heart desires as long as it’s official run time is less than 90 minutes.

7 Films for Train Lovers

Well I am currently sat on a train on my return journey home from a couple of days in London. There’s something still so good about trains, and I always love films with a train in them. So decided to pick my 7 favourites!

Top 10 – Films I Caught Up With In 2012

This a new top 10 list for 2012, I thought it was a good idea to look back and pick 10 films that I have eventually seen this year from years gone by. Classics or much talked about films which I eventually got round to watching this year. Just thinking back to some of the reviews on the blog, I think there’s going to be some films in this list that people won’t believe that it has taken me until 2012 to eventually watch them!

Probably not really in much of an order but 10 fantastic films I am now pleased to say that I have seen and added to my ever growing review section here at Let’s Go To The Movies. I actually thought it would be very easy to do this list but I actually hadn’t watched that many older films this year, but I hope that you will agree that most of them are top quality! Some aren’t but for that reason alone I am very pleased to say that I have now seen them!

Brief Encounter (1945) Review

Laura Jesson is what appears to be a happily married woman with two children, but everything is not as it seems when we are shown a brief affair in flashback form with Dr Alec Harvey.
