My Best Friends Wedding (1997) Vs Made of Honor (2008)
I love “My Best Friends Wedding” as you may already know I am a massive fan of Julia Roberts aka Jules in my world. Yet it is quite a strange film in terms of the ending really isnt what you would expect from Hollywood but is it more realistic? In my world yes it is. Its heartbreaking at times but thats life isn’t it. I have probably watched this film more times that people can actually imagine. Quite a few months ago I eventually got round to see “Made of Honor” which I had heard was like MBFW but the other way round. I however have to totally disagree with that and this post will end up in a rant that men always win no matter what the situation is.
Made and released more than 10 years apart really shows the direction in which romantic comedies aka rom-coms have come over the years. That direction is down. Don’t get me wrong some have been quite good like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “(500) Days of Summer”. But way exactly have I enjoyed these? They have more realistic moments in them and manage to connect to the audience in different ways. Especially (500) Days of Summer it is so realistic and good how throughout the film it reminds us it is not a love story it is a story about love, and showing how different your expectations are in comparison to what reality is.

Golden Globes 2010 – Live

- Very good opening jokes which seemed to go down well with his audience.
- Nicole Kidman is the first up presenting best supporting actress in a motion picture.

- First speech of the night is a very emotional one with tears and dreams being reached, a rather long speech.
- I have just spotted Julia Roberts for the first time 🙂
- Toni Collette won best actress in a tv show comedy/musical.

- Sir Paul McCartney presents best animated feature and is rather amusing, which has a great shot of Julia Roberts laughing.

- Ricky Gervais saying we have had some worthy winners and some not so worthy winners. Plugging his own film.
- Felicity Huffman who decided she messed up what she was saying so started over. She has totally lost what she’s trying to say.

- Best actress in a TV series drama goes to . . . Julianna Margulies for The Good Wife.
- Just spotted Mickey Rourke kissing Mike Tyson.
- Harrison Ford introduces Up in the Air.
- Cher and Christina Aguilera presenting the best original song . . . The Weary Kind from Crazy Heart.

- Best mini series or tv movie presented by Amy Adams and Josh Brolin. Goes to . . . Grey Gardens.
- Something that always amuses me about the Golden Globes has to be how difficult it is for the winners to get onto the stage if they are not on one of the tables right next to the stage.
- Tom Hanks introducing Julie & Julia.
- Colin Farrell who looks very good I might add. Presenting best actress in a comedy or musical . . . Julia Roberts is sitting next to Paul McCartney. Meryl looks embarrassed with both of her nominations. Goes to . . . Meryl Streep for Julie & Julia.
- She wants to change her name to T-Bone . . . T Bone Streep hahaha. I really do love Meryl the more I see her, she really is just brilliant. Awww she got rather emotional talking about her mother and how she is really grateful for everything.
- Helen Mirren introduces Precious.
- Kevin Bacon won best actor in a mini series or TV movie for Taking Chances.
- Drew Barrymore won best actress in a mini series or TV movie for Grey Gardens.
- Cameron Diaz introducing It’s Complicated.
- Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler presenting best screenplay for a motion picture . . . Up in the Air. I am so pleased about this!!! Also Gerard Butler was very cute not letting Jennifer Aniston see the paper then saying I’m not telling you haha.
- Jason Reitman got rather emotional towards George Clooney.
- Jennifer Garner and Ashton Kutcher present best actor in a comedy/music on TV . . . Alec Baldwin won for 30 Rock, but he wasnt able to attend the awards.
- Samuel L. Jackson introduces Inglourious Basterds. He then introduced Sophia Loren who got a standing ovation from the audience.
- Best foreign language film . . . The White Ribbon (Germany)
- Best TV series Drama . . . Mad Men.
- Taylor Lautner introduces (500) Days of Summer.
- Halle Berry presenting best supporting actor in a motion picture . . . Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds which I think was a pretty obvious choice.
- Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio presenting Martin Scorsese with an award. Was brilliant seeing them on the stage together and talking about everything they have done in the films and what an impact he has had on films. Leo sees Marty as his friend and mentor, thats nice !!!
- Marty’s speech was just brilliant after seeing clips from his films. Everyone in the audience gave him a standing ovation, Kate Winslet and Julia Roberts lead the cheering which was great. You can tell that everyone respects Marty by the way they were watching him.
- Jodie Foster introduces The Hurt Locker.
- Mel Gibson is presenting after a very cheeky joke from Ricky Gervais about drinking. Director of a motion picture . . . James Cameron for Avatar. Could this be the first hint of the Oscar going to James Cameron too??? He thought his ex-wife was going to win it.
- Best TV series comedy/musical . . . Glee. Yes, I really was hoping that Glee would win this. It’s brilliant! All of the cast decided to get on the stage as well.
- Reese Witherspoon presenting motion picture comedy or musical . . . and the winner is The Hangover.
- Mickey Rourke (yay) presenting actress in a motion picture drama. He always seems so shy when he has to talk on a show like this.
- The winner is . . . Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side.
- Best actor in a comedy or musical . . . Robert Downey Jr for Sherlock Holmes. This is a bit of an outside win I reckon. I love him though he is brilliant. A very funny speech as well.
- I am really hoping that George Clooney is going to get the best actor award, will find out in a few seconds.
- Kate Winslet is presenting best actor in a drama . . . Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart. Who got a standing ovation from the audience. They really let his speech be a long one !!!
- The last award of the night best motion picture drama !!!
- Presenting this my favorite Julia Roberts. She really does have a great smile. The Golden Globe goes to Avatar !!!
- Interesting I was hoping for Up in the Air. O well never mind, this will make the Oscars more interesting.

Golden Globes 2010 – Presenters
As the 2010 Golden Globe ceremony is upon us on Sunday, I thought I would start posting some build up and take a look to see who is going to be presenting (and get excited if my favorites are presenting).
The rest of the presenters are, Josh Brolin, Taylor Lautner, Amy Poehler, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Cher, Chace Crawford, Cameron Diaz, Colin Farrell, Jodie Foster, Jennifer Garner, Matthew Fox, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Neil Patrick Harris, Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren, Kiefer Sutherland, Kate Winslet, Sam Worthington, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio.
This makes for a very good line up in the presenters, and what should be a good show.

Shrek Forever After (2010) Poster
The first poster has been released for the fourth and final Shrek movie. Not really too much to comment on this poster really, other than Puss in Boots is rather on the fat side . . . will this really be Shrek Forever After? Well the third movie was not really the best, are we bored of seeing the same jokes over and over now?
This could be the start of quite a lot of posters for this movie being released.
Power of Film: Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2010
Power of Film: Has stated the 10 movies they think are most anticipated for 2010. I thought I would give my opinion on whether I think they are my most anticipated . . .
10. “The Book of Eli”
I think anything with Denzel in should be on a most anticipated list.
9. “Remember Me”
Robert Pattinson . . . I guess that is all you need to say and millions of teenage girls will be running to see this movie. A romantic drama set in New York, can’t be too bad.
8. “Prince of Persia”
I am still undecided whether or not I am looking forward to this or not. Jake Gyllenhaal is a very good actor, so it maybe very good.
7. “The Green Hornet”
I love comic book adaptation movies, so yes I am looking forward to this one. Has a very strong cast as well, with Seth Rogan and Cameron Diaz among the stars.
6. “The Expendables”
Another movie with loads of stars in the cast, Sylvester Stallone infront and behind the camera means it is going to have action in it. Biggest draw for myself with this movie has to be Jason Statham !!!
5. “A Nightmare of Elm Street”
In all honesty I do not care about this movie. I am not a real fan of the horror genre/slasher movies, I just don’t get why you want to go and watch loads of blood being splattered everywhere.
4. “The Last Airbender”
Well I had not even heard of this movie until coming across this list, so I cannot really comment on it.
3. “Iron Man 2”
Now here is a movie I have been looking forward too since Iron Man finished in the cinema last year when I went to see it. Even more so when Mickey Rourke was thrown into the equation. This is going to be next year’s biggest hit, I reckon!
2. “Harry Potter and the deathly Hallows, Part 1”
Not a big Potter fan and have not seen the last two movies, so I guess if I watch them before this comes out I might venture to see it.
1. “Alice in Wonderland”
Yes, yes and yes. Definatly on my must see list for next year . . . Tim Burton is back and yes he has brought Johnny and his wife Helena back together again.
So as I said before this is not my list, it is my views on Power of Film’s list.

Top 10 – Julia Roberts Movies
I have been a fan of Jules aka Julia Roberts, since I can remember. I have just always loved her loads, and still to this day watch her movies over and over, while hoping that she will keep making more movies. Maybe even add more Oscar’s to the one she has as well. That would be fantastic!
To pick this top 10 I based it on how enjoyable the movie is and how much I love Jules character and the acting. So some movies may be missed off because of the enjoyed factor. This is also a difficult list to complete as it quite often changes around.
