One of the worst things about watching a lot of films has to be when your really looking forward to one. It has a lot of hype around it, it features one of your favourite actors, you like the sound of the story. You rush to see it at the cinema when it’s released and when it starts you are expecting a lot (probably the first problem) and in the end you are left feeling disappointed. Sometimes though even a little bit of hope for some films is too much and again you are disappointed as the credits roll.

A message from Bond’s past leads him out into the field alone, as MI6 is facing extinction with the 00 programme. For a new world-wide surveillance system which means everyone is being constantly watched everywhere.
It’s getting to that time of year when all the more serious films come out ready for awards season, well the Golden Globe nominations for 2015 are out. Having a look at the lists only about half of the films have hit the cinema in the UK so far. But I have seen quite a few of the trailers for the other films as well. So at least it gives an idea of which ones to look out for and head to see. Usually these are pretty good predictors for who will be nominated at the Oscars as well.
The Golden Globes are usually good to watch and more relaxed than the Academy Awards. Probably a few surprises in these nominations and some quite big films missing out!
I have decided to put a * next to the films I have already seen!
Best Motion Picture – Drama
Boyhood*
Foxcatcher
The Imitation Game*
Selma
The Theory of Everything
Well I wasn’t really ready for this years Oscars and didn’t manage to see all of the films nominated for Best Picture or the top acting awards. So I didn’t really seem that bothered about catching the show or trying to stay up late to watch it. First time host Seth MacFarlane didn’t really make me any more excited about it all, don’t get me wrong I really do like Family Guy, but figured he would be a bit much for the Oscars.
One little thing I didn’t realise though was that musicals were going to play a big part in the show . . . Now if I had known this earlier . . .
A second poster has been released for ‘Water for Elephants’ with more of Robert Pattinson than anyone else . . .

The first poster has been released for the up and coming film starring Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz.

I am afraid this is going to be my last Oscars 2010 post until some red carpet pictures and the results and my opinions on who one, how the show went and the hosts Steve Martin and my man of the moment Alec Baldwin. As I cannot as originally planned stay up to watch he ceremony. 😦
Another downside to this years Oscars, I have not managed to see many of the nominated films. Some still have not appeared in my local cinema which has been so disappointing! My predictions therefore have to be based on what I have heard about some of films and performances (and where the other awards shows have gone to).
The day eventually arrived and the nominations have now been released (I now know which films I have to watch before 7th March) and we can all start debating and creating our predictions on who is going to walk away with the golden statue come Oscar night.

We go back to 10 nominations for Best Picture and an animated film has been included in those 10, that being Up. Now that will cause a lot of debate because from what I have read people preferred Wall-E to Up. From my first look at the nominations the only suprise for myself is seeing District 9 in the Best Picture cateogry. Everything else is pretty much what was expected.

The Blind Side
District 9
An Education
The Hurt Locker
