I have waited what feels like forever to witness the Extended Editions of The Lord of the Rings on the big screen. This is a very special moment as I am now sat in the cinema waiting for this film to start. Fellowship is the film that made me really fall in love with films and how they were made. So basically if it wasn’t for this film I very much doubt Let’s Go To The Movies would be around today!

Tonight starting at 7:30pm I am heading to the cinema to see the 1989 Batman film on the big screen. Something that really does excite me considering my love for this film and Batman/Bruce Wayne. As much as I love the Nolan trilogy this was the film that really kicked off my love for Batman watching it as a kid and adoring it. Baring in mind I had not long turned 2 years old when it was released in the cinema I am very much looking forward to seeing it on the big screen after all this time!

Bill and Ted are about to fail history and be kicked out of school, unless they can get an A+ on the final presentation. With the help of a time machine they manage to collect historical figures and learn a few things along the way!

Last night I went to the Odeon Cinema at Silverlink which has recently reopened after the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown. It had been almost 18 weeks since I had the pleasure of sitting in a cinema screen! I usually go to Cineworld as a I have an Unlimited Card with that being my closest cinema. I have been to this Odeon a couple of times now because it is the closest IMAX screen to me.
Tonight I went back to the cinema after almost 18 incredibly long weeks and went to see The Dark Knight for the fourth time on the big screen but the very first time in IMAX. With so many more home viewings over the past 12 years since its release in 2008, it felt like the perfect film to welcome the cinema back into my life, had to go to Odeon with Cineworld pushing the opening date back to the end of this month. Although for IMAX I have to visit Odeon, it is only the third time I have seen a film in IMAX and it really is the most incredible way to watch a film.
Anyway for recreating the movie and the occasion of The Joker in his IMAX glory I purchased this snood/face mask for the film and here is my attempt of being the joker! I am certainly looking forward to using it during the winter for my runs!

It may no longer be as welcome, but smoking has had a place on screen since the medium began. It’s synonymous with the black-and-white era of cinema with screen giants like Humphrey Bogart and James Dean stealing scenes with the simple puff of a cigarette. But, even if it’s to a lesser extent, modern cinema has retained the tradition of depicting smoking on screen. Here, we’ll take a look at some of the most iconic smoking scenes across movie history.
Humphrey Bogart’s Oscar-nominated turn in the all-time classic ‘Casablanca’ included plenty of scenes of him smoking at the bar. After uttering the immortal line “Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine”, his character Rick Blaine stares into the distance forlornly, only pausing to take a smoke. Bogart was able to use smoking as a subtle expression of emotion, whether laid-back cool or heartbreak.

Today Cinema First released a list of films that can be used at cinemas when they reopen in July. With Cineworld being the first to announce a date for England on 10th July they will then need films to show. The list has a very wide variety of genres as well as from all decades. That’s right today Cineworld announced that Cinemas in England are scheduled to open on 10th July, obviously this is provisional but I certainly see it as a light at the end of the tunnel. The cinema is the place I have missed the most since lockdown and I really cannot wait to see a film on the big screen again!
Felt like celebrating with some images from movie scenes where they go to the cinema! Can you name all the films?
News broke today that Cineworld is planning to reopen all of its UK cinemas in July as the lockdown measures begins to ease following the pandemic.
The big release in July is Christopher Nolan’s Tenet which is due for release on 17th July, which is the day after my birthday so it appears I could well be back at the movies by then! Another big release is the live action Mulan film which has been pushed back a few times now due to the world crisis. As everything stands we will be in for a very busy time in November!
When the cinemas reopen they will have social distancing measures in place which will include isolation and staggering film times to reduce crowding.
