2015 at the Cinema!

2015 has been a very good year in terms of films and I had plenty of Cinema trips to keep me going over the year. I am going to go on record here and say that I think it is actually a lot better than 2014. Not only have I had a good time with the films, I have also branched out and even been to a few cinema’s that aren’t Cineworld. As you know I have the monthly pass which obviously helps getting to the cinema a lot. This year though I attended my first film festival in London which also meant I got to go to the legendary Leicester Square Odeon as well, just an added bonus. I then also went to a local small cinema to catch The Lobster considering it did not get a very wide release from Cineworld at all, so that was another fantastic experience. Also adding Vue to the list as I picked up some amazing 3D Star Wars glasses when seeing The Force Awakens for the first time.

This time last year I was celebrating a record-breaking total. You know what I have only gone and done it again setting a new record this year, beating last year by a whole 4 films! Which I think is pretty impressive when some months were a little poor, but I got off to an amazing start seeing a whopping 12 films in January. That is always the best month in the UK for seeing films as it is all building up to the Oscars.

7 Worst Films I’ve Sat Through at the Cinema – Part 1

When you go to the cinema a lot and have a card that allows you to see as many films as you want in a month, that does not always work out in your favour. That also means while you will see some brilliant films, some entertaining films etc you will also see some awful films. You may see that this has part 1 next to it, well when I was making the list I had a lot more than 7 films to choose from, plus if I keep going to the cinema I am sure that more will fall under this title!

Unfortunately most of these films were from before I started my blog, it would have been quite interesting reading my initial thoughts on those film as well which is a shame.

Cineworld Secret Screening 4 – Possible Films

Today Cineworld announced that is to host its fourth Secret Screening for Unlimited card holders. It is going to be a 3D film and as you will see the date for the film is bound to cause absolute uproar in people thinking it may just be the new Star Wars film!

This is what Cineworld have had to say so far . . . “What we can tell you is this: the movie is showing on Tuesday 15th December 2015 at 7.30pm at all Cineworld sites apart from Chelsea, Glasgow Science Centre and Cheltenham Screening Rooms.”

I have decided to have a rather early look into what films it could be . . . The fact that we know it is going to be a 3D film certainly does help to narrow it down and for the last couple of weeks in December not many films at all to choose from!

2014 at the Cinema!

A record-breaking total!!!

The other amazing thing about this year as that I managed to review every single film I watched at the cinema. Something I have tried to do since starting Let’s Go To The Movies in 2009, but it has never actually worked out. I have a system now of making sure the review is done after getting home from the cinema or the following morning. It’s good to have a routine to make sure they are done, something good to look back at and see what your thoughts were. Also to actually track which films you watched!

I honestly would not be able to afford to go to the cinema this many times if it wasn’t for Cineworld’s Unlimited Card, it is an incredible deal where you pay monthly. So a big massive thank you to Cineworld for still running this incredible offer!

Cineworld Secret Screening 3 – Possible Films?

The day is almost here … The third Unlimited members secret screening from Cineworld. The first was a very early preview of Now You See Me and the second was very disappointing with The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (as a preview was scheduled for the week after). So let’s hope that having one of these right before some big blockbusters are going to come out really pays off!

7 More Reasons You Should Have a Cineworld Unlimited Card

This is a follow up to my first post with 7 Reasons You Should Have a Cineworld Unlimited Card which was done back in 2012 and believe it or not the Unlimited Card has even more reasons to get one now! Well done to Cineworld for making the incredible deal even better!!!

  1. Premium Unlimited – after having your card for 12 months you will automatically be upgraded to the premium card. Which gives you 25% all food, drink, ice cream and sweets. Also no additional charges for 3D films.
  2. Starbucks – This is now at a few Cineworld’s across the country and you can even use your card for discount on your favourite coffee treat as well. Something I do when passing the cinema and not actually going to see a film during the day.
  3. Baskin Robbins – Ice Cream has recently just changed at Cineworld and I think this is such a good thing as gives very different options and constantly different flavours of ice cream each time you visit.
  4. Secret Screenings – This has now been done twice and such an exciting experience, not actually knowing what film you are going to see until the title comes up on the screen. Roll on the next one!
  5. EE Wednesdays – with this offer combined with your Unlimited card you can take a friend to the cinema for free. As your card covers the cost for the ticket and you still get the 241 deal!
  6. Non-Film Discounts – Cineworld also have on sports events, opera and theatre on the big screen. But with your Unlimited card you also get a nice discount on those exclusive events.
  7. More Advanced Screenings – This happens more often now and often only a month between the advanced screenings of up and coming films. You have to have an Unlimited card to attend these exclusives!

So there you have it 7 more reasons you should have a Cineworld Unlimited card . . . Why don’t you sign up now? This is a UK cinema of course, I do understand that people from other places in the world must be very jealous of this offer you can get.

2013 at the Cinema!

You can view the films (and dates) which I saw them at the cinema here. As already mentioned probably hundreds of times now on the blog I have an Unlimited Card for Cineworld, therefore can see as many films as I want as many times as I want for a monthly fee. All but 1 of the 59 films I saw this year were at Boldon, Tyne and Wear Cineworld. The 1 different was in Houston Texas, when I was on holiday in the summer. I don’t think I’ve missed any as I try to keep cinema tickets and writing the reviews straight after getting home from the cinema or the following morning. I think I have done pretty well this year and only missed a few to review, of which the start of the reviews are in the draft section of the blog.

Cineworld – Secret Screening 2

If you read my blog a lot you will probably know that I have an Unlimited Card for Cineworld cinemas and this means you pay monthly and can go and see as many films as you want. An added bonus has been the Unlimited preview screenings and now secret screenings! The first one was held earlier this year and we got a very advanced screening of ‘Now You See Me’. It was a very strange yet fun experience not knowing what film was going to start after the trailers and Kevin Bacon advert! Now with only a couple of days to go until the second secret screening (and the two clues below) I cannot help but wonder what the film is going to be. A lot of the talk is pointing towards ‘Last Vegas’ and that is understandable.

Clue 1: He who ruled over the army had his name traced out by meteors and he clashed in the city of the rat pack. Figured it?

Clue 2: He was a good man but one to avoid. If it’s at the centre of what he works for, are you really alive? Are you watching?

Any ideas on what the film it could be?

7 Reasons You Should Have a Cineworld Unlimited Card

Cineworld’s Unlimited Card means you can go to the cinema as many times as you want for the very low-cost of 14.99 per month. See every film, see a film ten times or a few times a week. It’s up to you!

  1. You can see as many films as you want – no limit you could go see a couple of films everyday if you really wanted to! You will also end up seeing films you probably wouldn’t have picked out if you had to pay each time, therefore seeing some hidden gems!
  2. You don’t have to worry about money – it’s already paid for each money so you don’t have to be concerned about not having enough cash to see the latest releases
  3. Exclusive offers – until last weekend my local cinema had an offer on which allowed Unlimited card holders to get 30% off all food/drink/sweets.
  4. Exclusive Screenings – every now and then you get an email through telling you about a card holder only special preview of a film, before its general release.
  5. Social – If your like myself your friends all have a card too, therefore you can go in a big group or with a close friend. Plus you will end up talking to the staff because they recognize you when you attend the cinema all the time.
  6. Quick Service – When purchasing your ticket all you have to do is swipe the card, so much quicker than paying with cash!
  7. Local Unlimited Offers – Cineworld has teamed up with all different restaurants in different areas so you can get discount off your meal. Places include Frankie & Benny’s, Nando’s, Handmade Burger Co and Pizza Hut. You will often find that this is a place close to the cinema, so why not combine the two for a night?

If you like going to the cinema and watching the latest releases you really should check how close Cineworld is to you as this Card really is the way forward when it comes to cinema viewing.

Happy 3 Year Anniversary!

It has been 3 years now for Let’s Go To The Movies (well slightly over as the first post I made was 9th February 2009) I had no idea that when I started this blog, actually that was the date of my first post! I registered the blog on January 28, 2009. Now this blog is something that I wish I had started years before that date. As I had seen some very random films and I would have loved to have been able to look back and remember what I thought of them at the time. A reason why I keep going with reviews, especially for films I have seen in the cinema to get my thoughts saved as soon as possible. I try to complete cinema reviews as soon as I return home or the next day. I find it gets harder to review a film the longer you leave it. I have enjoyed creating top 10 lists and making general posts on movies or actors.

I go to the cinema at least twice a week most of the time (depending on how many films are released) due to having a Cineworld Unlimited Card so why not try to review everything that I see on the big screen? But some films do slip through the net!

But I have to admit that if you told me I would keep this blog going for 3 years with not many gaps in posts, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. I also find it just brilliant to see that so many fellow bloggers who started in Feb 2009 are still going strong today and posting about 3 years themselves. I still enjoy reading those blogs too!

So we shall now focus on the year ahead and what 2012 has to bring in the year of film!
