Continue reading “Persuasion (2022) Review”Yesterday BAFTA released the longlist of films that are going forward to round 2 of voting for this years awards! I have to admit a couple of surprises I reckon but always really interesting that they release this information.
BEST FILM
15 films go through to the Round Two of voting, and five will be nominated. This is the only category voted for by all film voting members in all voting rounds. 244 films were submitted for consideration.
OUTSTANDING BRITISH FILM
20 films will go through to Round Two of voting. The top five films from the opt-in chapter vote in Round One automatically receive a nomination. The next ranking 15 films will be considered by a jury, who will vote for five nominations. 10 films will be nominated in this category. In Round Three, the general voting membership will select the winner in this category. 74 films were submitted for consideration, all of which passed the BFI Diversity Standards.
In the 19th Century Katherine is sold to a much older man as a young bride and must deal with her new “life” as a wife. With tiredness and boredom setting in it isn’t long before she finds something to pass the time.

A big screen outing for a very popular TV series in the UK, which has been running since 2002. I will admit that I have never watched it, but Netflix UK having it all on I may change my mind after seeing the film. So this review comes from a stand alone view of just the film with no influence from the TV series.
